By the way, talking about Pepi and his FC Groningen scoring streak. One striker, who failed at FC Groningen/in the Eredivisie, Alexander Sorloth, turned out quite well in the end. He just a few days ago made a 30 million transfer to Atletico Madrid. If a FC Groningen failure can do that, the future for Pepi is bright
You're going on capology.com's numbers, right? If so, I'd advise a bit of caution. Their PSV salary page has Richie Ledezma on 390k euros. With the Eredivisie's non-EU/EEA minimum at 500k there's no way that can be correct. They also have Tillman, who's just joined for 12m for 4 years, on 300k and that's out-beyond-the-Orion-Belt implausible. 3 million is credible, but 300k is nonsensical
You just alerted the infamous Dutch IRS, who are frenzycally putting together a tax hit team. The only thing that can save PSV is when ASML threatens to leave Eindhoven/the Netherlands if they're not pardoned.
I actually took my numbers off a couple of articles, but they may have used capology. Reality is precise salary info is always difficult and usually incorrect, tho often "in the ball park." Meanwhile PSV reportedly trying to scam another Murican into their career-killing lair! https://www.psvinside.nl/psv-en-weer-feyenoord-tonen-interesse-in-international-team-usa/
Count me in as someone that thinks PSV would be a good spot for McGlynn. IMO, McGlynn will do far better in a good Euro League if he goes to a team that dominates possession and is often trying to break down a low block.
Regular listeners will be disappointed to learn that Pepi has been dropped ... from Jong PSV: Tijd om te knallen! 💥#JUTJPS pic.twitter.com/vOfx7beLfO— PSV (@PSV) August 16, 2024
My presumption is that this means he'll be in the squad for the senior team's match on Sunday. *crosses fingers he's not wrong*
The combo of Jong Ajax (as FeyenieFan noted) and a Mon game (Ledezma used to get the odd Monday runout after a DNP on the bench the weekend) is what let PSV play Pepi with JPSV. Barring a knock, it would be a really, really bad sign if Pepi were not at least on the bench this weekend. Despite the fact Pepi did not get a lot of minutes last year, he was in the squad for every CL and CLQ match, and subbed into 9 out of 12, He was in the squad for 31 of 34 league games, and subbed into 26, started 1, had 4 DNP, and 3 out of squad due to injury (tho the last one never IDed the injury, I don't think.) He was also in the squad and subbed into all 3 cup matches. So, if Pepi starts not making the bench - or even goes a long stretch without symbolic sub minutes, then it's time to really start worrying about his status.
Pepi a DNP again today. LdJ landed an assist and went 90. Didn't see this one. Whoscored had LdJ "mom" but who knows. Drag for Pepi is the PSV schedule is pretty soft till end of October. They need to fumble against some easy teams soon to give Bosz something to think about. Only AZ (of the usual suspects) is off to a strong start. (Groningen and Fortuna will not keep this form - you heard it here first!)
Rough opening weekend for YA. No Pepi. Pulisic wasn’t his usual self. Reyna looks to still be on the outs. Tillman subbed at the half. Cardoso was a sub instead of a starter. Probably 1-2 others I’m forgetting. At least Musah may have gotten himself back into the starting lineup and Sargent did quite well. For Pepi I do hope the congestion will end up being too much for an older LDJ and we’ll see Pepi get more starts. Overall, the lack of transfers from MLS paired with club situations not improving or worsening for our guys abroad leaves me feeling disappointed. Hoping for some big positives to come like Cardoso’s breakout at Betis last season.
Small thing, but it was not opening weekend for the Ered. Tillman had a good opening day last week, but this was not the best YA weekend we've ever seen, for sure. Tho the Ledezma surprise is a nice twist.
It is a bit disappointing some transfers haven't gone through like we'd hoped. Reyna, Turner, Tessmann, Yow, Sargent mostly. Some still may push on but you prefer to see business concluded earlier in the window for the players sake. Still happy to see Morris move to Boro, Wiley move to Strasbourg and McKenzie move to Toulouse. Two new yanks in Ligue 1 is fun and I like following the championship so I'm happy to see Morris bed in quickly at Boro.
Sticking to the main names in the Ered. "A" start for Ledezma and Pax Aaronson. "B" start for Tillman, "C" for Booth. Pepi has done what he could with his few chances - give him an Incomplete for now.

Pepi was the 2nd PSV sub after Couhaib. He came on around 73, just after Tillman scored. Bosz changed it up a tiny bit, with Chucky on the right, Tillman left midfield, Veerman in the CM spot. Ledezma got the start and went 88 mins. Pepi doing what he needs to do this season - goal for JPSV and now for the Sr. team. His goal near the end, Tillman's nice goal around 6:30.
In PSV first 3 league games he subbed in at 70, DNP and subbed in at 73. In the cup, he subbed in for PKs, basically. And the JPSV start. He needs to spill a bag of marbles around LdJ's locker and try to sneak a start or two, then there'll be no looking back.
