Edinburgh is underrated in the world IMO. I was very happy there.

I think Glasgow was the Euro murder capital for several years running sometime last decade I believe.

It always depends how you count, who counts, what you consider the "city" geographical area and what you mean by "murder", of course, but Glasgow's murder rate is about that of Zurich's and less than that of over 100 US cities - and a bit less than Belfast, but it is, according some data, among the higher rates in the UK.

Pepi starts, Vitesse (12th) hosting Groningen (18th/last).

No injury update, but starting/playing is obviously great news.

Not watching, so I don’t know if he’s wearing a cool eye patch.

There's a storyline to watch here with Pepi's parent club. It looks like they're going to lose their finale. Stuttgart is currently drawing. If they go on to win, that would suck Augsburg into the relegation playoff. Then if they go down, it would solidify Pepi would be sold or loaned again. I don't think many of us want him to return, so that would be good news.

The results mean that it's Stuttgart in they relegation playoff, so Pepi will definitely be staying. :(

And even if Augsburg had gone into that slot, the BL1 side has won out something like 12 out of 14 times since that format was introduced.

They are a relegation battler w/ or w/out him. Not a good situation for either parties. In his absence, they haven't reformed their squad to provide more service to their strikers. They could use his transfer fee to do that. It's a paradox. Really they ought to sell and use the $ on midfielders. I think they likely still will, but we'll see.

That's the Pepi conundrum - 16.5 million Euros for a 19 year-old off the back of a breakthrough season in a decidedly Tier 2 league is a deal the likes of Bayer, Eintracht or Dortmund make: sign a kid who can contribute while you spend the next 2-3 seasons developing him into a contender for "main man" status.

The likes of Augsburg - if they spend that much on anyone - spend it on a 30 year-old from a Top 6 side who's lost his place and wants PT: a guy who will be "main man" from Day 1 in other words. They can't afford to wait for him to develop, as this season has only underlined.

Yeah, a perplexing buy. They either decide to kiss and make-up and hope he can be a B1 striker next season, loan him someplace they hope he can turn into a 16 million transfer, or sell for an upfront loss and gamble on a sell-on... Wonder which way they go.

I think O. Henry wrote about a similar situation.

He doesn't need to be a Bundesliga striker. I'd posit he was last time, until his confidence dipped from lack of scoring opportunities after the first few months.

He needs to be an Augsburg striker, which is a brute, or elite poacher who never gets frustrated. He's not the former. Possibly he's the latter, but that would be a big gamble for both.

I think they take the route Cincy took w/ Brenner, which was that they cut their losses, accepting it was a suspect idea in the 1st place, and hope they make it up on the back end w/ him raising his value at the next stop.

Ok - "an Augsburg-impact striker." But yes.

I'm inclined to think they take door #3 as well, if the right offer comes, but I could see them pick any of the 3.

Due to TWO incidents of cores trouble in the past month by their supporters. Once they delayed a game and second time the match was abandoned. I believe both times they throw objects at opposing players.

Relegated clubs with nothing to play for are especially UGH.

Still doesn’t seem fair to ban fans just when Groningen was on the verge of setting a world record for Sunday morning beer sales.

I expect it to hurt them in Boorish Farmer Beer Toss Olympics later this year as well. Felt like they had a groove going.
