I wonder where all the Alecko fans are now after seeing Clark show amazing skill Saturday. Alecko couldn't even get off the bench for D.C., even Ali Curtis got in ahead of him. That said, Alecko will still be good. Ricardo Clark will be better. Book it now, he will win Rookie of the Year.

You're probably right but the kid Dunivant from SJ is ahead of him as of now in the ROY race.

Only if he can stay healthy he'll be rookie. We've been plagued by injuries year in and year out.

Awarding ROY after one game? I don't know what they put in the water in Dallas, but it sure seems to cause retardation. What, no "Jon Busch is running away with GOY race" thread yet?

I'm convinced that Alecko will end up in a Metros uniform in a couple of years. Hudson will ruin him as he has already done with Quaranta. I really hope he is gone from DC by the time Freddie Adu will join them (thats where he'll be if he joins MLS). If Hudson is still coach, then it's bye bye Freddie.

And Sasha Victorine was the front runner after his 2001 debut.

Throwing up ROY claims because of a goal is one thing, doing so based on clearly superior technical skills is another. Clark is sharp and will play key role on an attack that will surround him with talent. Dunivant might wind up scoring more goals thanks to the attention Donovan gets but when this year is over the concensus will be that Ricardo Clark is the best rookie in the league. As for Magee, he will have a good year but will really flourish in year two.

right on with jerzyrebel...although it's exciting that not only is magee 18 and possibly not ready to make that big of an immediate impact, but guys like leblanc, giowenka and regan may also be making their presence felt in the near future, just probably not nearly to the extent of a ricardo clark

Did Patrick Henry mind when they taxed his tea?

Did F Jeff Bradley mind when BMI wanted royalties on his dance feva boot rooms?

Did Pitufo mind when Viva Villegas stole his activator?

Seeing how empty the MetroStars' trophy cabinet you need someone like Clark to bring the "real" hardware known as ROY.

And don't you worry, Eskandarian will make his mark when called upon. At least he has some talent to compete with for a first team job.

Richie will be primed and ready to continue his DC career in about 3-4 years. Par for the course in Ray's Nursing Home.

D.C. guys need to face it. Their team was raped in the Moreno/Pope trade, the Metros made out better getting Clark than D.C. did getting Alecko, and the Metros have Bob Bradley as their coach while D.C. has brew-chugging, great quote spewing Ray Hudson, who is a great guy but hardly a great quote.

As for the "hardware" references. The Metros do need hardware for their trophy case but D.C. United needs some windex to get the dust off their hardware. Last time I checked the Metros had won something more recently (2000 Eastern division trophy) than D.C. (99 MLS Cup). I know they aren't the same thing but D.C. people should stop living in the past (I guess three straight last place finishes will do that) or else Metro people will start talking about the NASL titles the Cosmos won. LOL.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Ricardo Clark for Rookie of the Year.
