I will be heartbroken if my favorite player goes to my most hated club. Please don't let this happen, Bayern! Thoughts? http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/05/multi-million-dollar-transfer-triangle/
The figures posted for Ribery are laughable. If Ronaldo leaves then Ribery is the best available replacement around. However, if the money was available, I would love to see both in the same team.
I hate frontrunners. Aside from ny yankees fans, man u fans are the biggest frontrunners in all of sports. please don't take offense if you are a true fan, but let's be real: most people who are fans of man u just want to root for the biggest club in the world. I only picked up an interest in PSG when I went to France last year and saw a match (PSG v Auxerre) at the Parc des Princes. But they have irritated me greatly by not renewing Le Guen's contract. How do you not re-sign a coach who took you from near-relegation to the top of the table? The players are annoyed as well from what I have read. The other day I was talking to my cousin in Paris who is a huge Marseilles fan, he told me that PSG are all about the bottom line, they don't want to win, they just care about making money. He is trying to convince me to become a Marseilles fan, and I have to say I might. I guess that would make me a frontrunner?
The same can be said for all of the successful elite sides. Ribery will be joining a club you 'hate' regardless.
Rumours are now he maybe off to City, but I guess that is because they are the only ones willing to pay the stupid money Bayern are asking for......
I have a hard time seeing ManU pony up that sort of money. Maybe my memory is failing me but I don't recall Sir Alex pouring the lion share of the money from a big sale back into a direct replacement. He hasn't done it so far after CRon's sale. I don't recall him doing it when RvN was sold nor Beckham. I think he's more than happy to have used the CRon money to have bought a few different young, promising players and let the teams' approach to the game shift & let a few of those players develop into the next CRon, Scholes, Giggs or whomever.
