when my parents were married that was very nearly true about catholics... my dad was expzcted to convert but finally only had to promise to raise the children in the catholic faith... and they were not only not allowed to marry in church, my father could not watch my first communion as it was only somewhat later that non-catholics were allowed to enter a church.
Yep,a point here. At Shari'a (Islamic Law) we have the 5 Pillars and some laws, like the alcohol/pork/porn abstention, the laws against usury and change games...and even the prohibition to listen music. See,when someone turns to a religion (and Islam is a particular case for me since I'm a "convert"),they came with some particular things that they need to change, but it needs some time.I always drunk too much, especially beer, and I smoke too.I live in a Catholic house,so things like sausage or pork are common to eat.And I always listened Black Metal or even Arab Music(i.e. part of my family is Lebanese from the Christian part and the other side is Italian/Swiss with Catholic origins - I'm alone as a Muslim here). So it's difficult to change the things from nothing, and now I stopped to drink and eat pig meat...but the music or cigars... In Turkey we've a different thing - they are mixing the Islamic culture with the western,so you'll find many guys drinking or eating pork chops - some bad tongues says that "Turkey isn't a Muslim country",you know. See,I live in Brazil and one of my aunts from the Italian side was in love with a Maronite Christian with Lebanese origens. But her family didn't aproval the relation and forced her to marry with a Italian 30 years older...she was 15 and he was 40. Yes. But in Islam men can marry with woman who beliefs in One God,so man can marry with Jews and Christians. At other side woman can only marry with Muslims.
Most because of 2 laws... When a Muslim Men marry with a Muslim Woman,he needs to pay an endowment.Since at Muslim countries men usually get the money to pay home wastes, woman probably gets all home care to do.So if both decide to set apart, the woman can use this amount of money or gifts to survive until she finds another way (i.e. muslim woman can work normally, but traditionally men go to work and woman take care of children, simple as that). I know a case here in Brazil that a man paid about US$ 1 million to marry with a woman. Of course Christian and Jew families have different ways to view marriage so they could cast aside the endowment law. I know that is strange at a first view, but it's well done in a society who have some familiar points stronger than material points.Anyway,if a girl falls in love with a non-muslim guy...the only way to have a chance to marry is doing like Ribery did = conversion.
Its not anything sinister, its just out of interest that people are speaking about this...nothing more. I found it interesting when I found that Robin van Persie is Muslim...and then it just fell into the back of my head, nothing more.
Re: Ribery est Musulman I read somewhere that it irked LePen, the leader of France's far right wing party, that one of the French team's few "white" non-immigrant-background players was a convert to Islam. Ha! Serves LePen right! Assalam Aleikum Ribery! Does anyone know if Telemonde 5, accessible through Cable and Satellite in the US televises French series A matches?
Re: Ribery est Musulman Well as a muslim, ribery is free to practice watever he wants. For all i care he can be jewish. But If you want to know the truth, alot of muslims do live in france. Im pretty sure in the ghetto that he grew up in there were tons of them, and I do believe he is even married to a muslim lady, causing his convergence. Try Setanta for the usa matches of Ligue 1. If im not correct, but i believe they have the exclusive rights now?
Re: Ribery est Musulman his conversion you mean? and are you familiar enough with the pas de calais region to be able to accurately comment upon its social and demographic makeup?
