Peter Horvath, Ethan's dad, is from Szeged (Hungary) and Pulisic's dad is from Zagreb, so the two guys have roots about 90 minutes apart driving.
Pulisic in the middle is where some of us really want to see him. Either way if they can keep Hazard it would be good for Puli, he could probably a carry a midtable and below team keeping them out of the drop, but he is going to need world class talent around him to be his best at Chelski. .
That trio with CHO rotating in on the wings would be fantastic. Looks like they're going to get Barella too, to bolster the midfield
It's very doubtful CHO stays with them though. He can go somewhere else to get consistent minutes, he's not about to get them at Chelsea and worse with all the coming signings.
I wouldn't be so sure. Chelsea is in position for CL. Between that, 38 league games and the FA Cup, there are minutes to go around. Especially with Pulisic showing a propensity for picking up knocks and/or getting tired legs. Not bad for an 18-19 y/o
It's being widely reported that his people have informed Chelsea that he won't sign a contract extension, and wants to go to Bayern, who have just increased their bid to £35m for him. I would be very surprised if he was still at Chelsea next season.
Higuain to Chelsea would sound pretty good to CP I imagine. He'd be a nice foil for CP in the box next year.
I dunno he seems past it. He's a headcase with a shitty work ethic. I'm surprised the LA Galaxy haven't tried to sign him yet.
Sari plays a 4-3-3 you want Pulisic in the center of the midfield 3?? I would push Pulisic as high possible.
Whatever Pulisic chose was going to be a challenge to win playing time. He's not a consistent starter where he is and already has to fight for playing time at the level of BVB (which is a very high level already). At his price tag, he was only ever going to a small handful of clubs that could afford him. All of those clubs are stacked and he'd have to fight for playing time at any of them. Not sure why Chelsea seems so much more tragic to so many than any of the other clubs where we may have ended up. Where exactly is this giant mega club willing to splash enough cash to buy and pay him well but where he easily walks into the lineup?
Well, either the the sum is less than the parts, or you're basing some of your player evaluations based on long-term resumes and not recent performance. They'd find a way to play Reus, Sancho, Pulisic and Hakimi, even if it wasn't as four of their "First 11." And is Morata actually better than Alcacer? I have my doubts. I imagine they'd find minutes for Witsel, too. Flipping it around - who on Chelsea would BVB be thrilled to have relative to what they've got, all things considered? Hazard, Kante, Arrizabalaga. Probably Hudson-Odoi. Otherwise, they don't tend to be a great home for aging players on the downside of their careers and may say no thanks, even before we wage-adjust those calls.
This is not EA FIFA. You don't go "player by player," you see how the team is playing. #1 in the Bundesliga and ending above Atletico in the Champions vs. #4 in the EPL and beating the likes of BATE in the Europa. Come on. Do you ever watch soccer outside England?
Yes, I watch soccer outside of England. My handle is literally Munichfan. Chelsea finished ahead of Atletico in their Champions League group last year also, and actually beat Atleti at the Wanda, and that was a worse Chelsea team. You also can't say number 1 in Germany is definitely better than a team in a lower position in England. Look at the money spent in that league, their teams are better than comparable teams in Germany and France. This isn't the Bundesliga from 2013. Just look at the betting odds for Dortmund's UCL tie right now vs Spurs. Spurs are the favorite and they are #3 in England.
Yeah, 1 was probably a little harsh. Looking at it again, I would say possibly 2, maybe 3 if you count Alcacer over Morata. But even then look at BvB in the summer, they were looking to buy Morata but couldn't afford Chelsea's price, and that was after Morata had a worse season than he has had so far (still not up to Chelsea standards though). Chelsea hardly play Hudson-Odoi or Christensen, the former who Bayern are bidding 35 million quid for and the 2nd who was excellent in the Bundesliga as a youngster. Going through the two 11's the only places I think BvB players would get in would be Witsel over Jorginho(and even that depends on the system as in Sarri's he is the metronome) and Reus at one of the 2 front 3 spots opposite Hazard. I don't think Hakimi would play over a Spain International in Dave although he is pretty good.
Or even look at Bats, who impressed at Dortmund last year as well on loan from Chelsea and who BvB wanted to buy. He hasn't been able to get a game at Chelsea in 3 seasons over other strikers, being sent out on loan twice under 2 different managers.
As much as I want to see BvB chasing their dream season, but if I was a betting man I would put my money on the Spurs. I expect the Spurs to have an easy time getting to the next round in the CL over Dortmund. The top 5-6 teams in the EPL is loaded with talents, there's only 1 or maybe 2 teams out of the BL that can competently compete for a Euro spot in the EPL.
Dortmund somehow will sabotage itself to fail winning the season and beating the Spuds. But I have no idea how this one went from Chelsea to the Spuds. Very different styles. Were BvB to face Chelsea, I'd have them as favorites.
Nope, they had no intention to buy him at all because he wasn't a good fit and was tactically weak. Also, your example about Hudson-Odoi, as an attempt to show that a BL side would spend big on what you describe as a bench player, is quite disingenuous.
