That makes a lot more sense as it did seem odd while watching that Werner didn’t come on.

Don’t worry about the Brits. Remember, this fall they will be banging on about bringing the World Cup “back home.” There is no more parochial, hysterical, off the rails fan base anywhere. They use to skewer Tim Herman every summer for not winning Wimbledon. Tim Henman FFS.

Pulisic played very well. Like Diaz, he probably wished he had found the corner on some of his shots. Ignore the Brits.

Xg chart for those interested. Puli had 3 ok chances, Alonso had the best one. The whole team added up to one.

CP played well..Best Chelsea attacker....I was most impressed with his ball retention which has always been an issue with him.

I cant recall a bad give away or getting muscled off the ball...Maybe 1.

Too bad that people only give him credit only if he scores..I thought he played 1 of his best match of the season..

both those silly articles refer to the "American Christian Pulisic" but not the Spanish Marcos Alonso or the Brazilian Allison". Sometimes the media make it so easy to see their crazy bias. At least hide it a little you knuckleheads.

And talking about Werner being on the bench and wondering why - that tells you that they don't even do their hw before publishing the story (Tuchel said post match he was injured in the pre game) ...

the reason Pulisic had so many chances is because of his off the ball movement and positioning and technical ball control skills. Yes he missed some ... but he had many for a good reason.

Shall we talk about Alonso or Mount or Lukaku or Diaz (multiple bending shots going high and wide) or so forth ...

"he fell short when it mattered most"? ... no that honor goes to Dave (off the post) and Mount (stuffed by the keeper) ....

fact is that the better team won today - CP had a very strong game - and CFC missed Havertz and possibly Werner for extra energy ....

yes Pulisic is just going to have to try and ignore the English media ... they are indeed a sorry lot.

he had one moment (late in the first half I think) when he controlled the ball in very tight spaces in and around 4 different Pool midfielders - and they could not take it from him before he released an outlet pass. Absolute class.

Thank you for mentioning this. It was so class, you could audibly hear oos and aahs from the crowd by the play. I kept hoping for a replay, but to no avail. He played so well today, and I know he is paid to score, but he was offering more than any other player for Chelsea.
He is never going to win over their spoiled fan base.

Not to say that they were pretty harsh and critical of Pulisic before the World Cup draw but it has seemed to ramp up since. It reminds me of Ronaldo’s early days at ManUtd, when England and Portugal were going at it quite a bit. The only problem is, that ManUTD fans were in Ronaldo’s corner when he was booed and criticized around England and Chelsea fans seem to not be in Pulisic’s corner. For Club or Country I guess.

Pulisic played very well but should have converted one of those two chances. Alonso’s misses were worse.

The British press was absurdly slow to see young Ronaldo’s value. They were too busy scolding unnecessary stopovers and dives to notice that this kid was creating > 50% of the chances for a very talented ManU team. Only when he scored 39 goals in one year (or whatever that crazy # was) did they finally shut up about it. And even after that, when Portugal beat England in the Euros (or was it WC?) semis, they absolutely lost their shit because they blamed Ronaldo for getting Rooney red carded. Alan Shearer said that Rooney should punch Ronaldo when they got back to ManU, and Ronaldo needed private security for weeks thereafter. It is a press corps and a fan base whose views should be completely ignored by anyone who wants to understand the game.
