Re: Reyna close to a RBNY deal?

It's based on the priority list, not just having an allocation.

I'm aware of that. I'm simply referring to the way they're split and divvied up and moved around like a monatary shell game.

And as far as the priority list, do you really think when Claudio told the league I want to come back home and play in New York, the priority list was part of that conversation?

Thank you very much Mr. Lewis for this piece of information. At least albeit slowly, the clubs are starting to take control of their own purse strings. Things are going well.

Honestly, I think that this move is a good one. The move would be GREAT if he doesn't take one of our DP spots.

it's a very good move. Reyna still has a few years in him and the mls could use his type of high profile class act hard working experienced player. I hope it works out for him.

    It doesn't?

Can you provide how you know this, or some sort of explanation?

I mean, if he's removed himself from playing for the national team, i'm not sure how on earth he'd still be in the player pool?

Nice one ag ... you got the scoop :)

Good move IMHO; not great (prove me wrong, Claudio :p ), but good business for all concerned.

Re: Reyna is a Red Bull

Have a feeling he'll be a DP. With VdB we now have 1 SI slot left correct? Meaning we couldn't bring in two big time European/South American signings. I'm figuring we'll either land Ronaldo or Delgado as the last SI, with Ronaldo being the more likely signing according to current rumors, and the fact that RB can throw a huge sum of cash at him.

Ronaldo is held in some soccer circles in higher regard than Beckham and would definitely make headlines on ESPN and other main media outlets, although not to the same effect as Beckham. However, both he and Reyna are big question marks. If they stay healthy and motivated we definitely have a title contender. If they're out of shape, injured, or unmotivated... well we'll see.

VanDenBerg will have a green card soon so we will have two SI slots!

Re: Reyna is a Red Bull

How much allocation money the club have?

....If they have enough allocation money to pay his contract they don't need to use a DP for the year 2007 but if isn't enough allocation money and they want him, then, they have to use a DP spot from the bigining.

Remember, they only can do this, ...this year, because starting 2008 every player that make more tan $ 300.000.00 have to be a Designated Player (DP), ....if they don't change the rules again.

As someone who had the luxury of knowing Claudio when I was younger and playing pick up soccer in my friend's backyard with him for a few year's before he went to Virginia, I have to say I am really excited that he is coming back home. I just hope for his sake and the team's sake that he stays healthy. I think the Red Bulls are headed in the right direction with BA in charge. Only time will tell....

Now, where the hell will he play? As an AM? He sucks there...DM??

I think a motivated Ronaldo would be awesome. If he scores goals early, I think that would be enough to keep him motivated. Also, no BSing with him. Either you come to play or to play. No fooling around like it seems he does at RM.
