Dont know if this has already been mentioned, and if it has feel free to close down this thread.

I think this is a big blow. It's an ankle injury that he aggrevated on Monday against Wigan. It's now certain that he'll require surgery to fix the problem. There's no word yet on an estimated return or how long the recovery period is, but I'm hoping he recovers fully, not necessarily quickly. I dont want a half-fit Reyna out there, and if it takes a little while longer for a ful recovery then so be it. I'd say if he returned by February or early March it would give him enough time to be fit for the World Cup.

I felt the same way. I was exicted to see him out there on Monday, but when I noticed he'd gone off earlier than expected, I knew something had to be up. Man City will look to have him back also, so I'd say they'll make sure he has the operation as soon as possible. I just hope he gets well.

what he said. what i really don't want is CR fit enough to suit up but not fit enough to play at his absolute best (what sean said). if he isn't 100% and bruce plays him, we'll suffer.

The way things are going it doesn't look like O'Brien will make it either.

Damn I hate all this bad news. :(

we gotta prepare for the WC as if we won't have reyna or o'brien. then if we get either of them or both we'll count it as a pleasant surprise. we can move those guys into the roster or move donovan around on short notice without completely screwing things.

So who will step up for the Nats? We need someone to emerge and not freakin Dempsey who chose to play "gangsa rappa" over training with Everton.

My best bet would be on Mastroeni and Carroll. And their back-up would be Zavagnin and maybe Olsen.

If we're rollin with Carroll and Zavagnin, I'd bet money on us losing all three.
If O'b and Reyna can't make it, then we'd need at least one of

    Clark
    Dempsey
    Adu
    Feilhaber

to break through in a major way.

I'd take Clark from that list.

A big relief. Luckily, it seems that Captain America may be back in time for the Germany friendlies against Poland and Germany. Germany at least. And I don't think anybody figured that Reyna was going to feature in any of the matches in January and February.

Yeah right now he just needs a successful surgery , and time to rest it and get fit again and back into form before next late April , early May.

    can all of this...

gnashing of teeth eventually bring us to the inevitable chant:

"Bring back Cletus, bring back Cletus"

    everyone say it with me...
    can I get a witness?

Relax people here's a two deep midfield without Reyna or o'brien, obviously when they recover we'll be even better:
    AM - Donovan - Dempsey
    LM - Convey - Lewis
    RM - Beasley - Ralston/Quaranta
    DM - Mastro - Olsen/Carroll

Wave a keg of beer infront of him and he'll be back in an instance.

    Go Clint!

I'd bring back Cletus if Cletus would bring Cletus back first. does that make sense? :D

I think I would rather have Da Beez on the right rather than Convey. Beez is more versatile and has been playing there lately with PSV

As much as I would like to believe that this midfield would get it done, I do not see it happening. The US team needs someone in the midfield with composure, someone that can play the possession game, makes himself available, and has the confidence to hold possession against tough opponents. I think we really need Reyna and/or O'brien out there...so I am praying for a speedy recovery.
