That story is about Robbie Fowler and 8 other City players boozing it up 3 days before Saturday's game. It's mostly about Fowler, and how drunk he was, but Reyna gets a mention for being there. Also mentions Macmananmanamanamanan being the one to stay sober, and keeping the others in line. Not good publicity, considering the recent scandels.

damn it, they've been winning... if that helps your game, do it again next week.

"Robbie was so hammered that when staff sprinkled salt on the back of his hand for a tequila, he snorted it straight up his nose!"

just let them do what they want to do, if that makes them happy and they enjoy themselves, and as long as it doesnt take them away from there everyday job, so be it, they obviously arent doing so bad in league right now, why stop the partying now

Over the summer my roomate and I were at a bar where Claudio showed up with some United players. The United players were doing Tequila shots. Claudio acted like he had better things to do and had one beer then split.

Because a drinking culture isnt what you want to breed in a club in todays times of ultra-professionalism, fitness and nutrition.
Getting paraletic a couple of days before a match isnt really ideal preparation.

Yes but lawyers or businessmen arent famous and dont rely on their body and physical fitness to get their job done.

So a rock star can go out and rip it up, but when an athlete blows off steam it is bad?

I agree with the physical fitness part to a certain extent, (you can get hammered occasionaly and not have it affect your game), but I dont agree that just because you ar famous, no have to abide by a different set of rules..

These guys are human and need to blow off steam sometimes. As long as it doesnt hurt their game it is fine. The only problem is once the have a bad game, everyone gets on their case and blames the partying. If the player choses this lifestyle, he choses to walk a very thin line...

Some musicians only play well when they are hammered ;)
Seriously though there is no comparison, a professional athlete has to look after himself physically, could you see the wee fat guitarist from fear factory knocking his pan in running up and down a park for 90 minutes?
In the game today, with the pressure to succeed and the wages the players recieve to achieve success there is no room for this kind of thing anymore, if they want to get smashed do it a day or two after a match, not two or three days before one.

Heh. My friend did that once in 6th grade for no apparent reason, just to see what it would be like. Landed himself in the hospital. I don't care how drunk Robbie was... he's not gonna snort table salt and just walk away.

he was probably just doing some tequila "toughman" style.

You take the salt up your nose, drink the shot, and then put the lemon juice in your eye.

I joke you not, people DO do this.

To be fair, when does Robbie Fowler ever look like he's not completely pissed?

    according to your logic,
between the EPL, UEFA Cup and Carling Cup,
Robbie would never have a chance to booze it up...

and that just wouldn't be our Robbie...
