http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/2386275.stm Oh no, will the premiership be able to survive without this hugely talented player? Or will anybody outside this board even notice.
I think Arena should cancel any forthcoming US camps, and the Premiership should take a month off to show respect for it's most spectacular, world famous player. (note-I'm not making a joke about Reyna being injured, that honestly does suck. I'm only making fun of certain people on these boards. So don't start.)
Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months Bolton sits on the bottom of the table...would you say that Kevin Nolan is simply the best of a bad lot? One of the good things about this sport is that one player can't make a team. Reyna is a very good player, who was in a bad situation. Sunderland have to be favorites for relegation now that their best player is injured, while for Reyna I'm guessing a midtable team or a promoted side would be glad to have him. It's terrible news for him right now, but perhaps there's a silver lining...not having to play with 10 awful players every weekend.
Why is everyone so down on Reyna. He's a good player. One of the best the US has ever produced. Not the same caliber as the big stars, but good enough to be picked to the WC select (or whatever they call it).
Noone is down on Reyna that I know of. Just down on people that think he is god's gift to football. The best thing you can say about him is that he is the best player on a bad team.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months So we were having a joke at Reyna's expense. But his post is just plain silly. American = Good 10 Non Americans = Awful. It was probably Reyna's vicious kick in the groin that kept Gerrard out of the WC squad when he got his red in Anfield. He even managed to pull the same "play" in the Mexico game but got way with it. He wasn't a bad player probably the best midfielder that came out of the US. But he's getting past it and it shows.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months Wasn't Reyna's kick against Michael Owen? And would you really categorize that one as vicious? It didn't have much force behind it. I think it was just ill-timed and clumsy, which is why it went so high, into the abdominal region.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months I thought it was Gerrard.? I know it was late and unnecessary. The ball had long gone before he dug the heel in. The ref seemed to agree and gave him a red without showing the second yellow. I don't follow Sunderland more than a passing interest when the news is on and he does seem to collect more cards than average. If you can keep Viera out of the averages... Anyway I hope he heals soon!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months Those awful 10 found an awful replacement to help them take on the ARSE today and guess what they won...!!! What was the score last month when Mr Wonderful was carrying them....Hmmmm 3 - 1 or something...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Reyna out for 6 months Oh definitely it was a straight red. It was one of the most bizarre plays I have ever seen. There appeared to be no malice, just bad timing and Reyna lost all coordination. I don't think Owen (Gerrard?) was even moving and neither was Claudio. He just stuck his leg up like some slow-motion karate instructor.
