Tommy Smith just slipped in during a ESPN chat that there has been some complications with Reyna's knee injury. He made it sound rather troubling. Is there any update available on Captain America?

i dont know particulars of claudio's case but i can tell you that there can be all sorts of complications in any type of knee surgery...

the most common is that players have an adverse reaction to scar tissue that builds up in the knee, or they are prone to excessive scar tissue growth and that can cause them to go back under the knife many time.

i know a friend who had a simple ACL tear from a soccer game, and after 2 1/2 years and 3 surgeries <thanks to excessive scar tissue> was finally able to get back on the field again...

if that is the case for claudio, his age is certainly going to work against him...

Nothing new on the Sunderland official site. Not that I would have expected to find anything.

Scar tissue is one complication. When the procedure occurs often blood will get between the flesh and the skin, which causes some serious pain.

I had a huge problem with that one after my LACL reconstruction. In fact, it hurt way worse than my knee did.

Infection is another complication, not sure how common but it does happen.

Claudio's going down a tough road, but he was in excellent cardiovascular shape when it happened. After he's recovered, he has a higher chance of tearing his other ACL than he does the one that was operated on.

Second surgeries do ALWAYS happen after the first one, but Second Surgeries also happen only SOMETIMES after the first one.

But does that mean 3rd surgeries alway happen after the first or is it only after the 2nd?

  9. Chris Armas had a nasty staph infection after his surgery. I don't know if it was related to the surgery though.

Maybe the Cosmos SHOULD come back....as Cosmos Kramer (can you imagine the cast of Seinfeld showing up at the home opener? With that name, they would immediately endear themselves to Manhattan/LI, and the nation at large).....comedians as half-time entertainment...David Brenner with behind-the-bench seats...
