Well, like it or not he will be back, Mr. Injury can't wait to start playing for Osorio and is very upset at all the rumors of him retirering, I think he can't be as upset as RB fans for his lack of play and very little results in 07.
    here is the article.

I say he plays 8 games this year with 0 goals and 3 assists again, money so well spent but sure would hope him shuting us up with a great performance.

Then retire and put the club and team above everything.

What lies? That you're done? That your body can't take it anymore?? That, even if you were an Iron man, you're not the player we need???

Oh, don't say you don't do anything. You sit on the bench injured and take up a large chunk of our team's salary cap and a DP slot. That's quite alot, if you ask me. And please, stay home, converse with your wife, and be a very private person... IN RETIREMENT!

From me, right here on bigsoccer. Everyone else thinks you're a magical player. It's just me, who thinks you royally suck. Yeah, a friggin joke alright!

    Dear Claudio,

We the fans of the Red Bulls are calling you out. It's put up or shut up time. And considering the Red Bulls' management you better consider they are calling you out, too. No one is going to waste DP salary on a washed up player. So either gives us the goods or hit the road. No more excuses.

    Sincerely,

    The Tri-State Area

I take his comments as a positive for us. He seems like he wants to stay and do well so lets give him another chance. Hoepfully he is due for a healthy season with a new coach.

really? I dont think its really of a matter of an opinion anymore, his body can't physically stay healthy throughout a season. This was a problem back when he was at Man City, I would love to give him yet another chance, but I just dont see where he will magically improve physically. It's not a mental problem, I believe he wants to do well and help the club, but I think thats only possible if he were to retire and take up a coaching position.

Whether we like it or not, he's getting another chance. I say we stay positive and get behind him, and maybe he'll show us something.

bum or not, like metros said, he is going to play.

so best bet is to give him another chance (trust me i dont want Reyna on our team as much as the next guy)

it sounds like he wants to prove us all wrong, so I am really hoping all these "rumours" as he puts it, motivate him to get injured in the 2nd half instead of the 1st next time.

See I have a problem with a statement like this. We all know he is most likely past his prime and should step aside for the benefit of the team. However, to call one of the greatest American players of all time a bum is just ridiculous imo.

I can see him playing as a libero or sweeper, if we played such a system. He still has considerable skill compared to most players in the league.

If he can contribute, the coach will play him. When I wish him all the best, I wish it for the team and us fans, too.

    Mmmm ... yeah.

Most of us have been waiting for more than a season, by now, for him to really "start playing".

Let's be clear in one thing, no body expect him to retire, we the majority of fans want him to go, this is a different thing.....Now, he say:

"I don't even want to talk about that all year, I really don't," Reyna said. "The club and team is always more important than what I'm doing.

I hope he remember this words if, from here to June his performance are not the expected and quit for good the team.....

I think you guys are actually the minority. BigSoccer is not a majority, and you only think you're the majority because Reyna haters never shut their mouths.

You know, you're right! I'm sure the majority of people who followed our team by going to home and away games and watching on tv think he's just the frigging greatest. That 22 minutes performance in our last game against NE was just 22 minutes of sheer greatness. Just the greatest player to ever come out of the USA, Reyna is.

Any guesses about how many more Reyna posts we'll have for the season? I'm saying roughly 450,000 more...

Guys, we all know the positions of everyone who posts here (we're not a lot of people)... repeating it over and over doesn't do a thing.

Love him, hate him, or tolerate him, he's here. Cross our fingers, hope for the best, and get behind the entire team for 2008.

I'm more than ready to cheer for Reyna. But he can save the 'tude for opponents, because he's given Red Bulls fans little but disappointment. Maybe its not fair to heap all the blame on him; but he's one of two designated players, so he has to produce. JPA did score 19 goals with 5 assists last season. Reyna had no goals and but 3 assists, pretty sorry for a center mid. To be worth his salary, Reyna should have been in the 5 goals and 15 assists range, IMO. The other business about leadership and intangibles is a distraction from his lack of productivity. Like I said, he needs to shut up and play. I'm not going out to the stadium to boo him; but he better show something early on or else he's going to find a lot of fans will be booing before too long.

Like it or not, he's on the team and isn't going anywhere in the near future.

He's injury prone, and played from summer '05 through fall '07 without much of a break. In some ways, it's not suprising that he broke down last year.

He'll be better this year than he was last year.

He may be 'past his prime', but so is Juan Pablo Angel. The question you need to ask is "can he help this team?"

Jaime Moreno looked finished when he played for the MetroStars. But he went on to have a few more decent seasons. Hopefully, Claudio can bounce back, too. Maybe he'll never be that dominant central mid some of us hoped he would be, but he can be a solid player in the middle of the field. Overpaid, maybe. But still useful.

Can we quit the crying and move on?

    I hope Reyna wins MVP.

I agree with the cliche` "Put up or shut up." , but the bashing you "majority" guys give him is a little ridiculous.

    He isn't Edmundo.

I hope in 6 months time, you "majorities" are all lining up to get on your knees and blow him.

I guess that'll make me as bad of a cynic as you guys. But I'm cool with that.

Jaime Moreno played for the Metrostars? HA! He drew a paycheck, but he never played for us. He spent all his time dogging it until he got back home to DC. Not a good comparison.

I too believe Claudio should shelf the 'tude, and save it for opponents. The fans and media here have plenty of reasons to question him regarding his future with RB.

Well, now that I think of the attitude factor, perhaps Moreno isn't such a reach as a comparison. Hmmmm.

Well that wouldn't happen even if he led the league in scoring. He's more likely to get an "about f@cking time!"

How much was Edmundo paid? How much was Reyna paid? Factor in the money aspect and Reyna sucked more.

Ahha highly doubtful. Reyna isn't fat.
Edmundo did nothing for the locker room. Reyna is our captain. Granted, he's overpaid by at least 5 fold. But what do you expect to pay the only American field player to have had as much success in captaining and leading European teams.

This is why two year contracts for players who never played in the league before are dumb for players over 30. Sergio Galvan Rey, Prime example.

I'm not stating that Claudio is brilliant. I just hope he shuts everyones mouth this year and does a complete turnaround. I won't rule it out. I think it's totally possible for him to be the star center mid we wanted last year.

And it's also totally possible he'll suck worse for two games, tear his ACL and MCL, ride the bench until the MLS cup Final, and come in for the last five minutes of our championship game.
