Well I remember seeing that Claudio was going to be one of the first three Sunderland players to meet Wilko...any news? At least a few more players (Phillips, Thome, Schwarz, Oster) should be available soon. I've read some bad things about Wilko, but I really hope Claudio and the Mackems can work a little magic. Cheers Nick
OK, now that you mention it.... I have no objections to long passes if they have an intended target and are done accurately. It's the "I've no ***************ing clue what to do with the ball, so I'll hoof it up 50 yards to the other team's defenders" longball that makes me vomit. This phenomenon used to be quite common in English football, but is now only seen in regulation zone clubs.
It's also what the US Nats resort to when we don't have good ball handlers in the midfield (ie-Reyna, O'Brien, Donovan, DMB). To clarify this watch our matches @ Saprissa, @ Azteca. And then watch our match vs Holland in the Big Razor (thank you chris connelly)...and is that what Sunderland really does?
Taking seriously what a Newcastle supporter says about Sunderland is like taking seriously what Rafa Marquez says about Cobi Jones: Crewtoon is just baiting Mackems. Wilkinson, like Read, claims not to be enamored with an offense based on long, direct play. Whether he is able to get the team to play more attractively and effectively is an open question.
Wanna bet the first thing Wilko does is get the Yank off the field? Surely, that's been one of the problems. Gotta get some sturdy hard running English lads in there to stave off relegation.
Or " Do you know any lazy fat beer guzzeling hicks that aren't being picked up by german squads that we can sign on the cheap? ".
Fat... Reminds me of a joke that you may have heard... Q: What's the difference between Pam Anderson and Gazza? A: One is a dumb blonde with big tits and the other used to be on Baywatch.
I'm quite certain the conversation went something like: You know, I really think I could be a massive help to the Lads from the RB position. You know, when I was really, really good Dickie A let me play there. Brillant idea, Claudio. Guess I'll take that dang Swede off the transfer list. Now, no passing under fifty yards, and try not to hit long balls out of the back to a specific target, unless Quinn is in, then aim for the head.
I think it's fair to say that CrewToon never says anything Sunderland-related without a liberal dollop of senseless bias. This is a characteristic endemic to Newcastle fans.
http://www.safc.com/news.asp?article=114677&aindex=1 Little article in praise of Reyna - with stats to prove his worth!! This whole "8 on the block thing" is old news. The same eight guys have been for sale since summer. It's just no one wants them. Looks like at least 2 (Schwarz and Macho) could be back for the Ham game. I saw somewhere Myhre is hurt and with McAteer getting a hernia operation they need another middie.
What the ___ are you talking about? Are you now saying that Reyna doesn't mind losing? You can be a real crackhead.
I have much better ways to bait Mackems than commenting are their new manager. I would be surprised should Wilko and Cottrell remain past season's end. If Murray had any brains, he would begin the search for a manager now. Put it another way: I rate these managers as highly as Ruud Gullit during his time on the Toon
