Gio Starts.

 

Hopefully Gio can continue to exorcise all of that World Cup negativity. He's been really good. Now it's time to get into the starting lineup on a regular basis (hopefully).

 

Looks like Gio is starting at RW today.

 

He's been good so far. Getting himself and teammates out of trouble w/ slick technique and problem-solving. And defending decently.

 

Gio sloppy on the break earlier, lost the ball when he had lots of space.

Did have a clever flick pass a bit later. Seems to have lots of freedom to drift centrally. He's not staying wide.

 

Bad play by Gio on the break. Received the ball in some space, and tried to take on the defender, but he went straight at him, took too long to decide, and was stoned. Work him back and forth, or pick out a pass. That could have been a chance.

 

The quality touches are there but some of the decisions are a little slow.

 

Never been a fan of Moukoko as a CF. Not a target, suspect touch, bad decisions on the ball. Think this would look better playing off Haller.

 

Agreed looks like he's coming off now. Ref needs to get control of the game. Bremen coming in hard on their tackles. Needs to show a yellow.

 

Dortmund have been struggling to hold the ball. Gio now swapped to the left side.

 

Gio backheels to where Bellingham used to be, but then steals it back.

 

Finally gets a chance to cut inside and shoot. Does well to make the space but almost puts it out of the stadium.

 

Just turned it on, hope he is doing well.

but is it me, or does he already looked gassed?

 

Better from Reyna there. Didn't force the shot and found a nice pass. Should have led to a scoring chance but it fizzled out.

 

I want thew physical winger youth Gio back. Dude used to be bulldozer out there on the wing. Now he's more of a finesse guy.

 

Mixed half from Gio but Dortmund struggled to create chances more broadly.

Reus was pretty invisible and Brandt didn't provide much in the attack though he tracked back well.

He seemed to clean up his game after he skied his shot. Started playing the simple pass and looked better.

 

He’s been fairly bad

 

Yeah not a great half IMO

 

? Average at worst. Dortmund collectively have been poor though.

 

He has actually been good getting goal side of his man and holding him off. Dortmund's attack is a bit sloppy.

 

Hasn’t had a ton of involvement in 2nd half. Dortmund not looking great. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets taken off soon as much due to fitness as anything

 

Game starting to go yoyo on Dortmund. they could use some Aaronson counterpressing up top and Paredes right wing work. We're in the YA thread, right?

 

He was anonymous and bad and the tactical sub for that reason
