Hmmm....I'm still skeptical and probably will be until I see him in the red & white with a number on his back.
Now, let the Henry to Madrid rumours begin again.

Let's wait until this gets reported on Arsenal.com to get excited. Maybe he just had a really, really good dream.

According to Spanish Daily Marca(Spanish language site), the deal is done and Reyes is travelling to London today to go through the usual medical screening that accompanies a contract signing. Arsenal will be paying between 30-35 million Euros for Reyes, who will be under contract for the rest of this year, and four more years through 2008.

the story is also on AS.com - this should be interesting. With Pires on the wing will he be teaming up with Henry at forward?

I can't see the club being able to afford this without screwing themselves over financially in the end. The last thing any of us want is to see Reyes come in at the expense of an Henry, Vieira, Pires, etc. That said, I hope I'm way off in my assumption.

Reyes is at Highbury undergoing a medical

This story is not true............. YET!!! Reyes has not fully completed the deal yet, he is this afternoon undergoing a medical, Arsene Wenger has called a press conferance for later this afternoon, but until the details of the medical is announced, he isn't a Gooner. Remember the same happened with Paul Robinson who had a medical and failed it. The press conferance was called but then it all had to be cancelled. But here's to hoping, because this kid is supurb.

he tore it up against Real Madrid, although that was against a makeshift defense. I'm very interested to see how he does in the Prem.

Does he have a history of injuries that would lead you to believe that he'd fail the medical?

Not as far as i know, but then neither did Paul Robinson. remember the guy is the number 2 England goalkeeper, plays every week in the Prem (albeit for Leeds) and has been talked about by every team who doesn't have a good keeper already. Yet he still failed our medical. So that's why until Arsene speaks or we hear from David Dein, it's not a done deal. Though I am very hopeful. But remember William Gallas had a medical just before the confederations cup last summer. Before Abrohamovich bought Chelsea, Duff had a medical at Liverpool........

    Holy *#*#*#*#!!! Holy *#*#*#*#!!!

If this move goes through, Arsenal have a gem on hand....give the kid time, but he has the makings of being a Raul for the Gunners.

But again, give him time to settle in. It took Henry and Pires a season to truly show their class...this kid, when healthy, is exactly what Arsenal needed when Berkamp inevitably goes...

    Wenger pulled a coup.

Anybody know when the press conference to formally announce the signing is expected to be held?

From what I've read, it appears he plays as a left winger, or a forward striker, like Henry. The only concern I have is that both of them can't swing wide to the left (as Henry does regularly). Maybe Arsene saw enough from Ljungberg to move him up front at put Reyes on the wing, or he could move Pires inside to serve the strikers, relegating Gilberto to the bench.

I think this signing tells you everything you need to know about the club resigning Kanu or Wiltord. Good luck to both of them. I wonder if they'll sign DB10 for another year, or just let him retire.

    Questions, questions, questions.

One other thing: he's eligible for the CL.

Press Conference is being held at the moment, was apparantly going to be tomorrow, but Reyes agreed to terms quickly so it was put forward. Freddy won't be put at centre forward. Reyes is signed as either a partner for Henry or more likely a replacement for Robert Pires whose legs arn't what they used to be and he will play inside with Vieira. Gilberto who has done nothing this season, will hopefully be sold, with the club retaining Edu for the bench as he has filled in supurbly when needed. I think Dennis will resign, he has proved himself in being a fantastic role model to bentley who plays in his image, the word is Wenger wants Bentley to continue to learn off Dennis which means one more year and a testimonial at the end of it!!

My prediction for this season and beyond:

I think AW will pair Reyes up front with TH14 for the rest of the season.

Ultimately, I think Reyes will start at left wing next season. Pires will move inside and become the 1st choice partner for PV4.

AW will buy Van Persie in the offseason for a reduced price because he will leave Feynoord for nothing at the end of his contract. Van Persie will be used to push Reyes and provide cover in the midfield and attack.

I also think AW will buy Kluivert in the offseason as well. He will get big wages, but nowhere near what Sol gets. AW will also find a starting centerback for a good price and move Kolo outside to right back where he can better use his attacking prowess.

Check this out for next year

    TH14 Kluivert

    Reyes/ Bobby PV4 Ljungberg
    Van P.

    Ash Some dude Sol Kolo

    Jens

Totally plausible (IMO), I hope it happens.

Kluivert will not come to Arsenal. It was Reyes or him. remember we have one of the most promising forwards in the game in Aliadiere who is starting to make a real impression at Highbury. Also Kolo's best/favourite position is centre-back. we have a great right back in Lauren. He won't be sold and is the best right back in the country, so why would Wenger get rid of him?!? Get Real!!!!

What a great thing to read first thing in the morning! Cesc and Reyes. The two most promising young Spanish talents, one of whom has already been kicking ass in the Primera Liga and called up to their national team.

I have to agree with this. I know not everybody likes Lauren and even though he was converted to RB from the midfield he has played well there. He has shown where his loyalties lie by even quitting the Cameroon national team to make sure he can always play for Arsenal. I doubt he would have done that if he didn't have assurances he would be playing with the Arse for a long time.

This signing is great news. I was a little disappointed that our rivals were strengthening so much and we had no one knew to bolster the attack. I have not seen him play, but I hear he is Spain's hot prospect. It says something about Arsenal that he would leave Spain to play in England when the Spanish league is so good.

Any chance of him lining up against Middlesborough?
