I think we'd all take a repeat of the scoreline, just not of the aftermath.

Twellman is done for the year. Pity, really. I fear his playing days may be about over.

New England seems a rather poor side this year. -8 goal differential... on a scoreless 2 game losing skid... They seem a bit porous in defense, which should spell their doom as they enter the RioT.

I'd like to see Becks play the last 30 or so, if he's ready. RSL 3, NE 0.

Hopefully Findley is on his way home. We can use him for a second half sub. Jet lag be damned.

Doesn't RSL have some type of July 4 match curse?

7-4-05: 2-2 vs. New York Metrostars (did score twice late to tie/make it exciting)

    7-4-06: 0-0 vs. Chivas USA

    7-4-07: 1-2 vs. Toronto FC

    7-3-08: 0-0 vs. Houston Dynamo

7-3-09: 1-1 vs. San Jose (ugly match, Espy red card, fluke late goal for the tie)

RSL will be looking for their first ever victory for the on-or-near 4th of July Fireworks match. Based on the team performance in the last two matches, this could be another ugly one. Fortunately, Beckerman and Findley will likely be available to provide the team with some much needed spark (or a good kick in the butt in Kyle's case!)

Here's to hoping Espy rides the pine in Friday's game so he doesn't pull a repeat. With his attitude in the last game I'm pretty sure we're in for some of his "stellar" MMA bullsh*t should he start the game and get riled up.

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Espy, Sabo, Will, Javi, Ned, Andy, Wingert, Olave, Borchers, Russell, Nicky[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
Bench: Reynish, Schuler, Beltran, Beckerman, Warner, Findley, Campos

I would like to see something different in the starting XI, but really we dont have many realistic options. Espy should sit, but Campos would be such a drop off and Findley will certainly be a little lagged (he was on the other side of the planet).
Beckerman sure as hell better get in as a sub on this one, we need him despereatly. If Gonzo is to stay, he could replace Warner, but I think Gonzo is done.

not sure what to think about this game, as was said, we have a curse when it comes to the 4thish of july games.

One important note about those games (and really, this rule of thumb applies to ANY discussion of RSL's history): WE SUCKED!

    The curse dies this year.

I didn't think we sucked too bad last season (or maybe it was just that Columbus, Chicago, and LA sucked worse than us ;)), but we still only managed to barely tie the 4th of Julyish match.

Thanks, in large part, to some HORRENDOUS defending. Though, it has to be said, Yura played a huge part in that goal (wasnt he a sub because of that whole "injur" debacle during that game?)

Findley should have a coming out party. This is the second week in a row that I see Kyle training with the team, so I am looking forward to seeing Kyle making his comeback his weekend.

    It's a trap!

Hopefully RSL comes out ready to play leaving the rust and non-interested attitudes where they belong. Last week against San Jose.

I keep hearing how the WC is going to increase interest in MLS. For me just the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I never miss a home game and I'll be there, I'm just having a hard time feeling any excitement after watching the best in the world. I felt that way last Friday and the game didn't fail to disappoint. Hopefully this week will be better.

Robbie Findley will have a renewal of interest and an opportunity to reset himself as an American Soccer Player and perhaps score some crazy amount of goals. I am talking about that coming out party idiom.

No, I wasn't meaning that the coming out of the closet homosexual party or a celebration of his great job with the USMNT.

if robbie can be successful when he returns to RSL, score some goals in the next month, i think support for RSL will go up. how much? who knows, if the team continues its strong play, keeps winning with minimal losses over the next two months, i could see them averaging over 17k for the season, maybe more.

god i wish the USMNT had gotten just one more win, soccer support would have gone through the roof if we had made the quarters and were in the publics eye for at least another 4-5 days.

    It would have been nice.

At the same time the US team made progress (from '06) in the W.C. National interest was piqued.

We won our group and we're not satisfied. There's a lot of reform in the air.

US Soccer is still hungry and it knows that it must improve - that's a good thing.

Lets hope we come out with more fire than we showed against San Jose last week at home. I mean this from the player's and from the head coach.
As much as I respect Jason for his job bringing us the cup last season. I still think he needs to adapt to game situations better and his substitutions need to be sharper. Please no more 91st minute subs when your team needs to get a result. That 3rd sub still pisses me off!!

I'm carrying this over from the San Jose thread, and the worst part of the game. The "craptastic" cover band. If memory serves me, then I've got bad news. The "stay at home wife" seems to be a staple of the 4th of July games, so expect to see her and her World Wrestling Federation belt.

Not only does she do the 4th games but she is also on the Les Olson Co. commercials. Les Olson is the sponsor for the fireworks.

The best year was the last year at RES when she and some dude came out to sing at the end of the game. The crowd noise, combined with the crappy sound system up there didn't allow them to hear that the music had started. Absolutely hilarious when they had to try to figure out where in the song they were supposed to start.

Here's your drinking game for Friday. Drink every time she belts out a whoa whoa ooh whoa.

Don't ask me how I remember that. Lets just say I loves me some train wrecks. Sorry to ruin your week.

Crossing my fingers that both Beckerman and Findley get time in this one.

Back when I was in college some friends and I drove to Foxborough see the Revs play the Rapids. I think it was the first game of their second season.

Anyway, they had this gang of Irish-style hooligans that was really into the Revolution concept at a street level, they looked like the cast of Oliver Twist if they listened to Marilyn Manson, or something like that.

Throughout the game they'd get all riled up and chant "with a bat, and a brick, and a big fat stick - REVOLUTION"...often after fouls.

    And the Rapids lost.

Fun game, and a nice cheer...beats the lame band. I wonder how much RSL-MC worked on his free styling.

Last week was horrible!!! I knew several people from my office with a casual interest in the beautiful game and brought their families. Everyone so hyped about the WC and......?????

Our defending champion team comes out and verifies every stereotype, urban legend, and myth surrounding soccer. That was hugging painful.

Want to show up this week guys??

When I have seen them on training when I get to work in Lehi, I can tell you that they have been having people that lose a certain drill or something like that do some extra spins and kind of incentivize the hustling on the players. Let see how it pays off with this game with the Revs.

it will only make the team dizzy:rolleyes:
JK wont have his team play that lethargic two weeks in a row, the guy harps on playing with intensity far too much for it to happen in consecutive weeks
