As requested ... a new thread for the game, that is more dedicated to the game itself. :)

Here's the ticket info for those interested:

Just a reminder, the Rhinos will be sending a few bus loads ... and while it was fun being outnumbered terribly last year, we'd like a few more of our fans to join us.

So ... the Midnight Riders will have tickets available at $10 each for the Open Cup match in Ludlow. We will be charging $1 per order (not per ticket) for mailing out the tickets.

If you're interested, please send in a check to the Midnight Riders ASAP, at
    PO Box 690264
    Quincy, MA 02269.

    Please note:
    1) Please email us your order, so we know what checks to be looking out for.
    2) Please attach a piece of paper stating name/address, as well as an email address that we can send confirmation to when you mail in your order.
    3) Also, please note if you'd like to just pick up the tickets at the bar we'll be meeting at Mateus Restaurant, or if you want them mailed to you.

Just to make sure we can get everyone their tickets on time, all orders and checks must be received by July 15.

Questions, please email us at themidnightriders@yahoo.com.

Just saw that Rochester has a 6th "Ex-Rev" on the roster: Roland "Pato" Aguilera. He was with the Revs for the 2001 season and played in all of one game... for one minute. No kidding.

    So the Ex-Revs are:

    Roland Aguilera
    Yari Allnutt
    Ian Fuller
    Carlos Semedo
    Shaun Tsakiris
    John Wilson.

BTW: The Open Cup match next Tuesday will be the Rhino's 3rd match in 4 days.

Anyone watch the Rhinos-Montreal match on FSW on Friday? I didn't see much of it. What I did see was a game that was fought in the midfield with strong marking keeping the game from flowing. I don't even know how the match ended. In any case, perhaps there are some pre-match tidbits to be gleaned from those who did see it.

And if you haven't read the other thread, you have missed the call to get out to this venue because you will have a great time. I have my bucket drum ready and I will dig out a cookie sheet before the match :D

    What will SN do?

    a) Go for a win with the first team. The USOC may be the only thing we still have a chance of winning by then. Or,

    b) Use all of the bench (however deep that may be in a couple weeks) and preserve the starters so they are healthy for that end of season run toward 4th place?

    I'm betting on b.

    Change the question:

    What ___should___ SN do?

SN will go for the win. As it stands his roster choices are linited enough that there are few 'bench" players that would be played anyway. True, we might see Big Luke or Thompson get a chance but I'm betting SN uses this as an opportunity to get his starters in rhythm and maybe back on track scoring goals.

I know in the past we have opined that the Rev coaching staff haven't taken the Cup very seriously. At this point it's clear that the Open Cup is a door to other major opportunities for MLS teams and as such needs to be given greater consideration.

I still make them the favorites. Just hope they don't kill someone trying to win a meaningless game

Why the hell do you say that?
Winning the MLS Cup and the Open Cup gets you the same International Club Invits. Both get the Club hardware. Both give the team bragging rights. In many respects the one-off nature of the Open Cup make it more of a compitition.

The game is only one week from today.

I hope SN just goes all out and puts the best possible XI out there, this game really is important especially considering where we stand in the league right now.

Tickets at the field on game day will be $16.

Yes, you can give me money tomorrow pre/post game. Put it in an envelope if possible with a note saying who it's from. Just makes things easier for me to keep track.

To be honest, I would be surprised if he didn't try his best to win this game. There are a couple of positives to this, one being that the Open Cup is important, and the second being that this game is another chance to get our healing team playing together. The more these guys start playing together, the more (hopefully) synced up they get. Just my $0.02.

Hell, if the fans are taking this seriously and spending time and money (including working half days) ... the team better as hell should.

BTW ... has Mateos been informed we'll be coming? My group could be there as early as 4 to 4:15.

Agreed, and especially considering that the Rhinos are a better team than last season, and they did happen to get eliminated from the 2003 Open Cup by the Revs at Lusitano Stadium last year. Rochester has everything to play for, and the Revs need to be ready for that.

We have only sold 20 tickets for this (that number includes tickets but no money from Magpie and Weber King)... is there really no interest on the Revs side?

Sorry ... I keep forgetting to check my pm. I'll do so now.

I'll be at the game tonight, but will be in and out of the tailgate. I'll definitely be there after the game though.

I'm guessing we'll have 15-20 in the bar. I know I've already sold 10 tickets to people who will be at the bar.

the website for mateus restaurant is apparently back up again.

Mateus Seafood and Steakhouse (basically, Portuguese restaurant and bar).

Good food. Good bar. Lots of tv's showing sports. In fact, the owner made us food prior to that game when she saw us show up there....only to realize the restaurant was closed (the bar was open). The link above is the directions/map portion of their website. Its actually, located behind the staidum (stadium is the cleared out area shown on the intersection of Winsor and Worchester)

Offer continues to stand: I can take two or three people, most likely leaving around 3pm from Back Bay/Downtown (exact time and location TBD), will return you probably to somewhere on the red line. Email me if you are in need of a lift.

Does Nicol sit some of the walking wounded for this one or does he use this one to get those folks back to match fitness? Gonna guess we see alot of baker, brilliant and dorman in this one along with Vercollone and Thompson
