Here's a tidbit of local lore. The Metros third string goalkeeper, Andrew Terris, is a Newton, MA native. He attended Underwood School and Bigelow Middle School, and then Noble & Greenough. He is a Stanford graduate (2003), and was Stanford's first string goalkeeper under Bobby Clarke.

My guess is that we will not see TnT, Jospeh or Kamler

    Brown
    Heaps, John, Leonard
    Baker,, Dempsey, Franchino Pepe, Ralston
    Brilliant, Noonan

Bench: Dorman and Reis (and Dead Man Walking Kante and Not Ready for Prime Time Luke)

I think the Mutts may finally get to walk away from Flxboro with three points for the first time in a few years. But you know, this group has a lot of heart and the Soccer Gods may Reel that they have done enough damage to the Revs for now. Heart says revs 2-1, mind says Mutts 3-1. Heck, I'll go wirth my heart.

After watching the first half of Mutts playing LA tonight (Shoot Out Package) I think we will be playing a very hot team and are going to ghet our butts kicked. Young (17yo) Eddie Gavin scored two of the best goals I've ever seen and the second goal could well be the goal of the year. The Mutts attacked in waves and were solid on defense. The looked TOUGH and should come in confidence high. OUCH

Well, here's hoping that Mutts are tired and overconfident, Noonan's back and touch are up to snuff and that the Mutts lose track of Ralston since he is playing on the left!! ;-) Then Adin plays another MOTM and holds the Mutts to 1 goal while Noonan, Ralston and Pepe score two before the Mutts wake up to the fact that they have a real game on their hands....oh what wishful thinking!

The best would be for Pepe to bury a PK in stoppage time for the win!

I am beyond predictions right now and pursuing flights of whimsy as our lineup has been through so much, it is almost impossible to 'expect' anything other than an honest effort and then hope that the cards begin falling in the right place. Missing your top four central defenders (Llamosa, Peirce, SJ and Kamler, though some might argue that John fits in there somewhere) against a hot team is a recipe for disaster. Let's see what strategy SN employs. Speaking of whimsy...perhaps a 5-4-1 with Brilliant off and Kante on in the back?? Play for the set pieces. ugh, it's not a good time to be a Rev fan, but a fan I'll remain.

The way Dempsey's been playing, I'd rather have him up top than Noonan. Then again, Noonan has shown his ability to perform with Twellman out of the line-up, so there's a case for having him up front.

However, the Metros are on a roll and playing very, very well at the moment, and I too have a bad feeling about this one - it could get ugly pretty quickly. Lord knows I want the Revs to win, but we're the wounded Gazelle to the Metro's lions:

    Metros 3, Revolution 0.

Back in Palo Alto, they probably consider him a total bum. He should have that tuition payed back in about, hmm ... 20 years - not counting interest!

Not that I would ever discourage a soccer career though (for someone else's kid). :D

I didn't see last night's game, but I saw last Saturday's LA/Mutts game, when both teams looked awful, particularly LA. Gavin was the best player on the field in that game, so I'm not surprised he did well last night. I thought that, with Ruiz back, LA would do well last night, but guess again. Maybe LA has too many "stars." Their defense is not good, with whining Ryan Suarez and Danny Califf playing badly.

I only say the 1st half of the last night's Mutts vs LA game. If Mutts does play like that on this weekend, Revs will be crushed.

LA's style/personnel do not match up well with the Metros. The Revs actually match up much better. Not sure how much of a difference that will make, given our complete lack of 1st team players, but it might not be as bad as last night's game indicated.

MLS is always a situation of "on any given day," where you never know what will happen. Remember the first Mutts game at the swamp, where we were hurting and the Mutts were flying (like it's any different now) and we pulled out a draw against all odds. There have been other games where a team coming off a big win might be flat the following game, especially if it's only a few days later. So let's hope that there is a letdown among the overconfident Mutts and we come out of it with all three points.

We need them a hell of a lot more than they do. I always look at the fixtures and consider the "perfect" results, where the Revs win and all the eastern teams lose, or they draw if they are playing each other. Even if that were to happen, we would still need at least a couple of weeks to leap-frog out of last place.

FWIW, it looks like that on top of everything else, Dorman is a serious doubt for Saturday, and Dempsey is kinda iffy.

I guess we will need to go back to a 4-4-2 with Kante joining John in the middle in the back and Joey playing DMF, Ralston and Baker on the wings and Noonan and Brilliant up top, Big Luke may get some time this week and maybe Reis will get his chance at Forward

If Dorman and Dempsey are out as well we will be playing this match with a total fit roster of 13 players one of which is the second keeper.

If Nicol, et al. are forced to play with 12 outfield players and a second keeper then every single suit that draws an MLS paycheck and every single "owner/operator" that sets the rules should look themselves in the mirror and admit that the M in MLS stands for "minor," "misbegotten" or "mickey Mouse."

this has got to stop, immediately.

Simple solution to the lineup problem. It's the Mutts, so there is only one thing to do:

    ........................Noonan
    Noonan.....Noonan........Noonan......Noonan
    Noonan.....Noonan........Noonan......Noonan
    ..........Noonan..............Noonan

Unless, you want to stick with 3-5-2.....

a hat trick per Noonan would make Revs win by 33 - 0.

Now we have the plan, and we just need to fund the cloning research to make it possible. :D

This is the best I could come up with:

    Taylor Twellman: Hamstring - out.

    Rusty Pierce: Quadriceps - out.

Joe-Max Moore: Knee strain - out.

Shalrie Joseph: Hip flexor & strained quadriceps - out.

    Brian Kamler: Hamstring - out.

    Andy Dorman: Hamstring - out.

Carlos Llamosa: Torn ACL - out.

Clint Dempsey: "Iffy" (care to elaborate Mike?)

Did I forget anyone? So, conceivably, if Dempsey were not ready to go, the only two available subs would likely be Matt Reis and Vercollone? Hell, with thgose numbers, I'd recall Kyle Singer as a back-up at GK, and get Fangoso a field jersey, that is, if Reebok can actually make him one.

    You think I'm kidding?
