Revs vs. Dallas: "Salute to Heroes"

But as AJ Soares reminds us in the preview for this game, it's a good showing by the offense, so let's be positive...

 

Yeah, I remember the last game with Unholy Toledo. A total disaster. But hey, what could be more appropriate for the disaster that is the Revs?

 

He's been doing a lot of traveling the last week. Maybe he won't be so fresh.

 

PROBABLE: Kevin Alston (L hamstring irritation), Monsef Zerka (L quadriceps tightness)

QUESTIONABLE: Otto Loewy (L groin pain)

OUT: Stephen McCarthy (L chronic shoulder subluxation), Sainey Nyassi (R MCL sprain), Pat Phelan (concussion)


Phelan should be doing some serious soul-searching. What's he on?, 40-50K a year? Is that worth permanently scrambling your brains? Retire Pat.

I have to say, this is the best and most competitive lineup the Revs have fielded all year. A wee bit late in the day, but still. And they're looking like a halfway competent team out there. Chances and possession have been pretty equal.

 

Dallas with more and more posession, You can feel a goal coming,,,,,Too bad the Revs do not have a CB that can actually defend in the air.

 

Cochrane on,,,,,,tonights Phelan?

 

If you're blaming the Philly loss on Phelan I think you're a moron. I do worry about changing defenders at this stage of the game though. At least Nicol is keeping the same formation.

 

First it was a tie so you are the moron and Phelan did not help matters by taking down a player in the box

True I forgot it was a tie, felt like a loss, I thought that pk on him was suspect nonetheless. I know you hate him so I'm not going to saying anything more, not trying to change your mind.

 

Wrong, I don't hate Phelan. Just don't think he is good enough to play in this league and he is a disaster on the 18

 

So the Revs play the spoiler roll and take 3 pts from Dallas. Good win at home. How I wish Perovic was still here. This would be a pretty interesting offense. I thought for sure Dallas was going to tie this but the Revs seem to pick it up around the 79th minute. Lekic was back to back good games.

 

Victory! First at home since... May. Ye gods. But they looked respectable tonight. Getting their money's worth out of their upper-tier players.

 

While I still think the Revs need to add another attacker in the off season, after this match and the last, I am convinced they need a LB and CB to win more games next year. Coria and Cochrane aren't the answer and Barnes is a solid backup

 

Wow... They actually looked like a good team tonight. We know what we have for an attack can score. I'd like to see what an attack-minded gaffer can do with this next year. The Revs were even able to keep possession! What the Revs have needed was a defender to be a huge factor. Biggest factor: Barnes was a beast. By far his best game as a Rev.

 

I was expecting to see something out of Brek Shea, but Alston owned him. It's great to see him run down players. Dallas' only solution to Alston was to try to take him out. Very nice team action leading up to Shalrie's goal and Cochrane did a nice job of setting up Lekic. Defense still sucks, Reis needed a bunch of saves and Dallas' finishing was terrible. But having been snake bit the last couple of games, it's very nice to see the Revs pull one out.

 

Another good shift by Lekic. Luckily , Phelan wasn't available, so Rajko went the full 90 and got a late goal.

Finally, the guys close out a W. Hope they're enjoying themselves tonight, they deserve it.

 

Now why couldn't they have played like this all season? They weren't GREAT but they played some solid football. Kept possession and looked to advance every time they had it.

 

We won - YAHOO!! To say we played good soccer, I'm sorry, I didn't see it. We had long stretches of only being able to string 2 or 3 passes MAX together, often 0 passes. My wife turned to me and said this game is just ugly to watch, there is a whistle or a stoppage of play constantly.

We gave up about 4 free headers within 8 yards of the goal in the first half and were fortunate on a number of other occasions that they shot directly at Reis. (To be sure that was also good positioning by Matt.) In my view (from the stands anyways) we looked pretty dreadful.

I'll take the win and I am happy with that. The team kept a clean sheet - that is a HUGE improvement.

 

Shea coming out for the second half said that he lost his legs - given the games he's played and the travelling he's done, it's a wonder he even made it the 45 minutes....

 

I thought Coria was very good tonight. Nothing spectacular, but nothing awful. The key was that you rarely heard his name called on the TV, and that is a good thing for a CB in my mind.

I would like to see the Revs bring in an upgrade during the offseason (hint DP CB hint), but he is a very solid guy to have around in my opinion. I hope the Revs work out a move to buy the rest of his contract.
