Very impressive. After the very early going, Chicago was unable to get any attack going. Why? New England wouldn't let them! Just like Nicol said in the interview, it's not the prettiest soccer in the world, but it's very effective. You get no points for style in the playoffs. WOOOHOOO!

    super Steve

Well done, super display. Great defense and wonderful tactics, well done Steve Nicol.

Jay Heaps should have been MOTM. Never put a foot wrong all night.

    lookin' solid

Thank heavens for nationally televised games and soccer pubs (http:www.georgeanddragonpub.com) - 1st game I've been able to see in a while and 1st game to see since they've caught 'fire':

    Reaction 1:
    Hell yeah! (capitalized ad nauseum)

    Reaction 2:
Is this the same team I watched live this summer lose 2-0 to the metropunks w/ a man advantage?

    Reaction 3:
These guys rule - what character and confidence

    Hope 1:
give us a good playoff ride - at least dispatch the Fire and get to the next round... PLEASE! Thanks for the great game!!!!!!!!!!

(and thank you by the way to all the usual posters - enjoyable reading from a lurker...)

    Sweeeeet!

What a great game. Too tired to write. Nicol is looking more and more like a genius. I agree that Heaps was MOTM - I think that was his best game as a Rev. Both goals were top shelf. Twellman, Hernandez, Llamosa, Brown and Kante were outstanding all game. I still can't get over Harris' new work rate.

The Metro fans are right - Stott tends to lose control of the game. I feel like it's only a matter of time before Twellman is seriously injured at this rate.

Hernandez had the knuckle ball going on his strike!

    What a beauty!

    Small crowd though. 6,000 - 8,000 ?

    Twellman/Hernández and other things

I knew Taylor would score again. I just had that feeling. And I was so excited when Daniel scored on a free kick (I think it was)! I mean, come on, can the Revs get better than this?

Yes, that is why they're the 2002 Eastern Champs, and they proved everyone wrong.

Sometimes you have to lose to win.

BTW, I'm new to this forum, but I know what these forums are like.

The first thought that comes to mind after watching this is the Revs are a VERY well coached team right now.

To know where this outfit was under Clavijo and for the first few games under Nicol this year and to see where they are right now is just remarkable.

They've gone from being arguably the worst defensive team in the short history of MLS to now being an excellent defensive team.

Nicol's the reason. And the players who have bought into his system.

I'm now thinking that trade with the Metro's may have been a lot better for the Revs than most of us believed up to now. Guess Todd S. was right after all.

The corner's been turned! Now give Nicol a 3 year contract so we can keep the mementum going.

    Another bit of good news

We arrived early and Rusty was working out at a good rate. I gave him a shout and asked how he was feeling. He gave me that little so-so hand tilt and said, "a week and a half".

A week and a half could get him in a playoff match and the Cup match.

Welcome to the Rev boards, Ondrea!

Oh, and thanks, Mike S. That was close to the best game I've seen them play as well.

    Super Rev & Super Steve

Nicol and his staff have done a great job and Steve should be named head coach.

Top class display by the team, very mature and solid all round. Even on a wet night, the Rev kept their heads and played great defense, no reckless slide tackles and great tracking back by the front two. Brown made one big save that changed the game.

Sunday at 6pm but what station?
