    Worked this time. Thanks :)

I still can't figure out why Heaps got red...maybe I need to watch in slow-mo or maybe it wasn't seen on TV feed.

Yes - some players did shake hands first. This video shows Shalrie doing that before all the nonsense started.

Wow, back from a great game. The Revs really shut down the Atlante attack. That was really good to see.

I didn't get a great view of the fight, but I thought it was alittle funny watching both benches empty like a baseball fight. I also enjoyed watching Nichol jump over the ad boards after the elbow on Dube.

But after the game was a disappointment. While we were doing our circle-up, a few Mexican fans got in the middle and started some trouble and were escorted by security.

We then continued with our chanting. About 5 minutes later, several police officers descended on the circle up. I was personally asked to leave by a female officer. When I asked why, she did not respond.

But when I asked what's different about tonight, her response really got to me. It was : "The difference about tonight is you can bring in your drum. If you keep talking, maybe you can't."

In retrospect, they made the right call to move us as to not make any more trouble with the Mexico fans, but I really didn't think they had to be such jerks about it.

I think he said "yo chiero taco bell" or something like that. I can see why that would cause a slappy.

As far as I know, before this video started, Heaps was already raging mad and screaming! So probably he had an encounter with one of the Atlante players, the ref gives him a red, then Vilar bumps him off his feet and then sucker punches him after he gets up.

Heaps, I would assume was mad because of the shoulder tackle on Dube near the sideline where he spent about a minute or two on the turf.

I was watching an interview with Jimmy Conrad and even HE said that Michael Parkhurst was the best at his position out of anyone in the league.

I sure wish we had Michael for the game on Tuesday...:(

As for the game...it's a shame it ended the way it did, but besides that I was very impressed with the Revs tonight. Joseph was particularly on fire tonight! It would have been nice to see Twellman get some minutes, but it's probably for the best that he didn't go in on account he probably would have broken a nail in the fight and be out for the rest of the season.

for a team from a league known for technicality, pace, and skill, i saw little of it from the white shirted atlante. the only skill they ever shown was back heel flicks that usually resulted in the ball going out of play or into the feet of a rev.

on the other side, khano, nyassi, ralston and joseph all made defenders look ********ing silly. maybe its just that defenders in the fmf are shite.

Just a meaningless money grabbing preseason warm up, eh FMF teams?

Why is it a Mexican team, club or national, cannot lose to an American team (again club or national) without making wild and baseless excuses? Isn't it amazing? If you watch the SuperLiga trailer on YouTube you will be treated in the comments to Santos fans using racial slurs to describe Dube and the ever popular "the ref was paid off"- and now what do we hear from a player? Oh yeah- the ref was paid off. Uh huh. I'll throw that one in the pile next to La Volpe's "my grandmother could play for that team" quip.

I have lost all respect for what the FMF calls "professionals". Obviously doesn't mean the same thing here as it does there. Let's see what happens if we meet them in the CL and win.

Anybody wanna guess what their excuses will be then?

    Pathetic.

    We want Houston.

    AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO

what a bunch of despicable *****. the keeper attempted to go after albright when he was down. and what did heaps do for the card. the atlante player had his hands on him and then that ********face keeper chest thumps him to the ground.

good job by security and the REVS coaching staff for mitigating the situation.

No media attention, very little marketing, fanbase with little understanding of outside-of-league competitions, midweek match = 8302

The other thing I haven't seen mentioned is the classyness displayed by an Atlante player taking the ball to goal as our player was down on the ground... I was worried Albright/Heaps would take him down in the box and give a PK but they waited juuuuust long enough for the ball to cross the endline before delivering the bodyslam.
You do realize Howard is at least a class above Ochoa at this point? Ochoa has potential to be as good, and is already the best Mexican keeper, but he's nowhere near Howard at this point and the rest you name wouldn't be anything better than 10 guys already here in MLS.
Yeah, they played so well they didn't even make the knockout stages. It's not about how you look, it's the results, and we're getting them, primarily because the MFL teams we've played haven't been able to handle either the speed on the wings of Nyassi and Smith or the physicality of Joseph and Larentowicz. Keep telling yourself it was preseason and you were missing players (as we were missing the league's best defender and the all-time goal scoring leader. Give us a decent finisher at forward and these games would have 2, 3 goal victories.) That's at least less disrespectful than claiming the refs were bought off or somehow this country is a dangerous place as your coaches sucker-punch our players.

I'll second security for actually doing their job.

I can pick three people out from the video. 1st: Heaps. Who knows what he did for the red, but it was there. 2nd: Atlante coaching staff guy who grabbed Albright's face from behind. 3rd: Villar who a) floored Heaps, hit Rally in the face, then either kicks or knees Albright after he goes down. Some of it is heat of the moment stuff. However, Villar is a thug who has hopefully played his last (international) game, and should certainly be (insert violent retribution here).

That said, excellent job by the Revs considering the personnel available. I'd still like to see more open shots, and better defending, but we established ourselves in the midfield and usually got behind the ball quickly. Castro's ability to get back tonight was important - note how in the 2nd half, Atlante had numerous attacks from their right wing once he tired and Khano came in. I know he still has fitness issues, but he elevates the play at both ends when he's on his game. Also, Red was admirable filling in Parky's territory. Shalrie was Shalrie. Ralston was double-teamed all night, but his set piece (Shalrie's goal) was beautifully placed.

I feel good about the Houston game. At least we're off until the final - Houston has Columbus at home Sat. night.

I never thought I'd say this about Houston, but it will be nice to play against a team of actual professionals.

    F*** off FMF.

I just watched the match from the good ole dvr.
Why didn't the police arrest that punk a$$ keeper from Atlante. Why weren't the cops on the field?
Maybe we can loan you Dario Sala (subGK) and Schellas Hyndman (guest asst coach) for your next match with puss boys Atlante.

Agreed, the metrowest daily news has such little coverage just taking the ap wire stories as blurbs. The paper has been showing for 2 weeks the next Revs home game is against Chicago.

Really miss Biglin or local soccer beat writer. Normally we would have had some articles and it would be on the schedule.

Gulati was in attendance. This is what we can expect him to do: nothing.

It's worth mentioning that Vilar repeated the "bastante peligroso" line and gave his repetition emphasis.

Take your "it's only pre-season/no one takes this tournament seriously/etc" **** back to Mexico, all-MLS final, the way it should be.

The classy Mexicans stick with tradition, getting 8 cards from the 84th minute on, 5 of which were red cards.

So glad we beat the 2007 Apertura champs, 2007 Clausura champs and 2008 Clausura champs, as well as the defending Superliga champs to get where we are right now. One team left, **** the orange and white.

Back to the game.....It is nice to win, but am I correct that the Revs have scored ONE goal from the run of play in this tournament? One? For those who think this team has outgrown the need for Twellman, think again.

Mansally blew an absolute sitter after great work by Dube.

The back line looked really strong...missing Heaps is going to hurt, but I wonder if Jeff L. is a future Parkhurst replacement?

Nyassi is an interesting player. He is so good running at defenders, his back tracking has improved, but his decision making can be pretty poor (youth?)

Castro had some good, but obviously tired in the second half.
