Trying to get a handle on where we stand...

    Senior Roster (18 of 20)
    1. JOSEPH, Shalrie ($335,000)
    2. FEILHABER, Benny ($335,000)
    3. REIS, Matt ($191,112)
    4. ALSTON, Kevin ($149,000)
    5. LOZANO, John ($100,000)
    6. NYASSI, Sainey ($86,750)
    7. SOARES, AJ ($82,999)
    8. MANSALLY, Kenny ($79,000)
    9. MCCARTHY, Stephen ($73,250)
    10. TIERNEY, Chris ($66,666)
    11. BARNES, Darrius ($61,750)
    12. CARDENAS, Fernando ($60,000)
    13. SCHILAWSKI, Zack ($59,875)
    14. FAGUNDEZ, Diego ($53,500)
    15. BOGGS, Zak ($42,000)
    16. GUY, Ryan (Unknown - $42,000)
    17. MORENO, Jose (Unknown - $42,000)
    18. SIMMS, Clyde (Unknown - $42,000)

    Total Salary: $1,924,904
    MLS Salary Cap: $2,675,000
    Salary Cap Space: $732,096

Off the Budget Roster (8 of 10)
    1. POLAK, Tyler
    2. ROWE, Kelyn
    3. MURRAY, Tim
    4. PURDIE, Alec
    5. ROACH, Michael
    6. SMITH, Dawyne
    7. KINNE, Ryan
    8. GARCIA, Kevin

    International Players (4 of 8)
    1. FAGUNDEZ, Diego
    2. CARDENAS, Fernando
    3. LOZANO, John
    4. MORENO, Jose

So, clearly we don't have nearly $750,000 in cap space available. I'd be surprised if we even had $650,000 available. But there should still enough to sign two significant players.

Possibly a very dumb question- why do you have $42,000 listed next to the three unknown senior roster players? Is that what you're assuming it will be or is it the league minimum salary or something along those lines?

Also, does the MLS release salary information for these off-the-budget and international players?

I could be wrong, but I believe that's the league minimum.

Salary Cap will be higher because it increases each year under the CBA, plus every club has allocation money so I'd assume it's closer to $3 million total. Also for estimate purposes, I'd say Moreno 100k, Simms 75k. I'd say we have a full $1 million available.

The cap is 2.8 million + 300k im allocation

Edit: Fagundez isn't on the budget roster. He's a GA

Are you including our "we suck" $100K from last season?

I also believe we're close to $1m under the cap. Also, is Benny up to a DP salary now?

Yup. Forgot the automatic 5% increase. I'll readjust the cap to $2,808,750.

...which I won't include at the moment because the Revs may not use it on salary.

Yup. Missed the Homegrown Player exception.

With that in mind, and guestimating the salaries for Guy, Simms, and Moreno...

I'm new to the MLS rules, but aren't 4 free international spots pretty valuable? Wasn't an international spot what it took to get letoux AND cash?

They're extremely valuable. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep 1 or 2 open because I've heard their value goes up in the summer. In the summer, teams are looking to add that final piece and might be willing to let go of a decent player if they can get the necessary SI spots.

$53k for Diego? sure beats the $10/hr I got as a summer camp counselor at his age.

I think it's a moot point since he and his parents have said he has no interest in college.

Yeah, but if he succumbed to a freak table saw accident and lost his leg, he'd have that option.

Nick Downing takes an unusual approach to conditioning.

So, they save another $150K with Moreno (apparently) staying put.

    Yay!

By their math Twellman twittering from the physical therapist's office in the Bahamas = a full roster capable of scoring goals.
