why, oh why, is this not posted on the revs' website (i can only hope/imagine it will be soon). regardless, where was an "announcement" saying that this info would be coming? where's the buildup? the pomp and circumstance? the "heads up" to the loyal season ticket fanbase?

i'll tell you, i'm signed up on the email lists for all the mls teams that have it (col and clb really only ones that don't i believe...and the revs don't use theirs). i get almost 1 email every single day from l.a. and n.j. (practice updates and photos, all press releases, ticket package and merchandise info too). dc...every other day it seems. kc, chicago, dal aren't all that far behind. s.j. is more sporadic. and again, nothing to the revs' center circle list?

oh, btw, another season tix giveaway announced on the radio ads for the month of feb.....i think its a one-time prematch on-field excursion (of somekind) for every seat purchased.

regardless of the recent q+a.....communication between the revs and their fans hasn't improved all that much.

Re: Revolution Picnic Zone & Revolution Netside Terrace
    for who? the corporate suits?

plus, it'll be interesting to see if the group benefits listed "count" for the "special event dates" as well. (i.e. juve/barca, gold cup, other nat team dates). in the past, i believe they've often avoided matches like this in the past bonus announcements b/c it was "easier" to get a group together. i put a group of nearly 140 together for the holland match and got zip (they apparently forgot to input my only perk which was the name of my group on the boards). it will be interesting to know what will happen if they get the us/prtgl game in gear and i'm able to get a similar number together.

    yeah, yeah...i know....bah humbug....blah....blah....

This certainly seems to imply that Cat. III is going "general admission".

because, as you have pointed out ad nauseum, thier website sucks. otherwise we'd be there instead of here. :)
Using leased time on the priceline dot com supercomputer, they have calculated that you, yes you reveller, have a 0% chance of purchasing any additonal opption they may have come up with. Additionally, the PLDCSC has calculated that the cost of sales and support metrics rises dramatically when you are notified of any promotions. not to mention (and possible corollated) that the team phone lines in foxboro, colorado columbus and new york are inexplicably tied up during business hours. So they left you off.

    just kidding. :)

hey, well, whadya' know.....he's right. anyone looking to find it...just scroll all the way down to the "bottom" of the front page and click on the 3 little words that say "Revolution Ticket Plans". another quality web design decision by the revs webmaster.

This looks like an interesting concept.

My only concern would be the havoc that a low shot would create knocking over tables and whatnot... ;)

yep.....i think they must have been working on it around noon. i saw the standard "get yer season tix now" ad w/t&t on it and no mention of the new stuff.

still, highly disappointed they don't offer us tix exchange.

.....and there was still NO pomp and circumstance.

For whats it's worth the ticket exchange policy is now in place for the Breakers season ticket holders. From the pepole I've talked to (including myself) this was a HUGE factor in re-upping accounts. With all the commitments a young family has nowadays it's a big money saver. When will the Rev's wake up and look at the demographics. The other packages have some worth but how much appeal to the avarage family/STH?

Right. We occassionally go to Breakers matches, so we split some season tix there this coming year with a few friends. it was only possible b/c of the tix exchange that the breakers got our money. the above mentioned packages may not be the only options eventually available (is the 6-pack coming back?). however, the stuff listed up there does not even affect the average season ticket holder.....just the corp's with $ and people that run youth soccer leagues essentially.

if the office really wants to show some guts...then they'd come here on the boards and describe why it it that we are/aren't getting certain tix features. personally, i can wait until the press release to find out that serna will/won't be here. tix stuff....is far more important at this stage, but they won't touch it.

Ticket exchanges are in place with several Major League Baseball clubs. In fact, a few of them, even have different prices for different teams [eg, I believe one of the teams is Baltimore - a game against the Yankees is priced significantly higher than one against the Marlins].

    It makes too much sense...

Teams in England have been doing this for years. A game against Man Utd or Arsenal will cost more than the West Brom game, given the greater appeal of the opponent. Of course, if you go see your team play a crap team, there's a greater chance of them winning, that is, unless your team is also a crap team.

I think the Cubs also do this, as weekday afternoon games are less than weekends or nights, and popular teams are more.

Baseball: The Giants, Rockies, and I think the Cardinals to a lesser degree also offer tiered pricing. For the Rockies, the April-September games are "value pricing" unless it's vs. the Cubs or Cards, and the rest are "regular/premium" pricing, save for fireworks/Yankees last year, "classic" pricing. FYI

    Ticket exchange...

I know its not an officially stated part of the ticket program, but has anyone ever actually tried to contact their ticket rep or the customer relations director (when they had one) and ask to exchange tickets from one game for another? I'm curious about the answer.

    No, it's just...

...that in my various dealings with all things Rev, I've always found the Rev-specific folks to be quite accomodating, and I would be surprised if they didn't do as much string-pulling as possible for the highest paying customers. I do agree, however, that they are notoriously bad on informing the general public about their ticket packages and on keeping in touch with STH's, but I have to imagine that it's as much a lack of resources as it is a lack of priority.

It's my resolution for this year to play nice here with my fellow Revs fans

I'll even go so far as to say y'all in the Fort sound lovely - from the men's room on the opposite side of the stadium. Kidding, only kidding

I will say this though - damned if you do and damned if you dont never seemed more appropriate

    all right revs in first,

i was just joking about george and rev-oke....i know you're just looking for info.

i'll try to keep this brief and to the point....and on fact.
    (i'll avoid the ranting, hopefully)

    1. tix exchange is yet to be determined in dallas b/c of their new stadium situation...however, they did do it last year. as for the other 8 teams besides the revs? they all have some form of ticket exhcha

    2. every team playing in a football size stadium has ticket exchange (sj, dc, ny/nj, col, kc)....except the revs.

    3. every team (exc dal so far) in a scaled down stadium has some form of "limited" ticket exchangability. for the chicago fire last year, it took the form of have 2-3 set aside dates in which to use your tix.....however, at capacity, their place hold 13k+ i think, so that plan makes sense. in la this year, full season, 10 game pkgs, and 5 game pkgs have a "limited" form as well (i don't know what that means though). for a new stadium that plans to be near capacity a lot, i think that makes sense too. my guess is that by 2005 they'd be back to full exchangibility. clb has exchangability....however, they traditionally don't get a % off their ticket price for being a s.t. holder.

    4. last year "contacted" a large % of revs season ticket holders regarding youth ticket discounts (which at least 7 of the 10 mls teams offer) and ticket exchangability. many called the office or wrote on their surveys something to the effect that they'd like both of these things.

    5. personally, i spoke to 2 higher-ups last season and the head of ticketing about the issue. i was given complete non-reasons why this can't done (imo). one person just kept asking me how they'd prevent people from "taking advantage" of the system....basically, using that as a reason why it can't be. they kept saying things like "what's to stop someone from just "transferring" over tix from a low profile game to a high profile one?" i kept replying, "hey, if 9 other teams in varying stadium configs can figure it out....why can't the revs?" at least if they'd have said, look its the mgmt above us...they don't want it and never will. at least i could hang my hat on something here.

    6. last season, the revs were the 2nd highest ticket in mls (ny was about 10-15% higher). however, the revs were the only team not offer tix exchangability and the revs (plus 2 others) did not offer youth season tix discounts (the other 2 had tix well below the cheapest seat of the revs at least). colorado had 50% youth season tix discount last season!

    7. questions/observations for this season based on initial ticketing schemes:

    a. only options for ticketing now seem to be "full season tix" and "flex tix"...."half season", "6-pack", or whatever seem to be gone. that is totally out of line with the rest of the league. what i think this is saying is that if you want any chance of having a consistent seat in cat II or I, you have to invest the $$ for it. probably what they are banking on is the list of high profile games this year to hook people into that investment. one would think that investment (paying for 2 more games this season over last btw) could look even more attractive to people if some kind of ticket exchange were offered.

    b. new tix programs:
looks like a few new programs were implemented. however, they seem to cater only to the wealthy or coroporate buyer....or to people that run youth soccer leagues. i don't belong to either group....how many of season ticket holders do?

    c. new rewards program:
as i mentioned in another thread, they are giving "points" away for referring new season tix holders to them (1 pt/seat i think) and for group sales (1 pt/100 seats). "a head" at the low end ticket spectrum equals probably about $30 avg for tix, concess, prkg...so, if you brought $15,000 worth of business to the revs (500 people) you can receive....ta-da..."a personalized photo from a player of your choice". geez, you sell $15,000 worth of candy in one of those middle school schemes and you get lavished with gifts and probably a trip to disney world.

    8. other boston sports teams comparison. the revs also like to throw around comparisons to other teams in boston citing how the revs are a great deal compared to them. however, we're talking about a fledging sport here, right? not 4 franchises with mostly storied traditions. plus, i think its an unfair comparison because 1) those teams are the highest in their sports as well and 2) b/c if you live in rhode island, western mass, or somewhere else...why are you getting penalized for what "suckers" (and i use that term lightly b/c i go to some of those games) and corporations in boston will pay to go to those venues? in addition, just check out this espn ranking of the 121 mlb, nhl, nfl, and nba team based on everything from players/coaches to concession/amenities....and you'll find that boston fans of the b's, c's, pats, and sox all think they're getting fleeced.

    SportsNation: The Ultimate Standings
(take note of the "bang for the buck" category for the other teams in this town)

    back to tix exchangability....my solution?
i think that it can be put into place and managed correctly. if they don't want people to "transfer" tix away from ones they don't want to go to, they can do a number of things.
    a) restrictions on the amount of tix you can do this for during the course of the year. personally i think 2-4x the number of seats you have seems plenty reasonable.
    b) those tix could be exchanged into designated sections that aren't currently being used to a large degree. although other teams try to find you available seats in your current cat. level.....at a minimum, would many people complain if you at least got to "use" the ticket instead of eat it?
    c) at the very very minimum...if they are afraid of people transferring out of undesirable games, they take those supposed undesirables and make them designated dates for use of exchanged tix.
    d) oh, and at the very very very very minimum...the last game of the year should clearly always be a tix exchange date. like the library has for way overdue books, an amnity day if you will. esp since we get the mutts a lot here. the lower bowl should be opened totally up and get people out there.

not only does that last one encourage a mutts/revs rivalry, but with 8 of 10 teams making the playoff....you can market upcoming matches to a much wider audience on that last day.

of course that's IF you like sitting in the endzone and your "grandfathered" into past $10 prices from being a season ticket holder previously. for some of us, that ends this season and for the rest after next year i belive.

yes. they have about 1/4 % or something in the upper corners of the fleet that are designated $10 tix.
