i am okay with bringing in young talent that the coach knows and trusts but hopefully they are working on a DP replacement for Chancaly
Not the news I was hoping for... Rumor: Colombian Club Interested in Brayan Ceballos Jan 13, 2026 by Sam Lattof theblazingmusket.com I don't think there is anything to this other than the Revs rejecting an offer, but worth keeping an eye on.
Eastern Conference: Breaking down every team's premium roster slot status Matthew Doyle Tuesday, Jan 13, 2026, 10:58 AM New England Revolution What comes next:
DP slots: 2/2 - Carles Gil, Matt Turner U22 slots: 3/4 - Luca Langoni, Ilay Feingold, Brooklyn Raines little confused by this. Isn't Turner on loan? I thought Chancalay was the other DP which now should be open. Is this wrong? Matt is not listed as a DP on the Revs site
https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/turner-returns-to-revolution-on-loan-through-summer-2026 So, Turner is TAM-eligible this year, but they have not bought him down as of yet. No need to do that until they find another DP.
struggling to understand this. he is not for sale but they will loan him out? Is he not in their plans? are they willing to enter the season with a 20 year old 5-11 unproven defender in Kohler with Fofana or does Beason get the nod? Maybe they are just trying to cash in on a guy that had a good year Caleb Pongratz @CalebPongratz10 · Jan 13 Per: @ElPetisoArango , Independiente Santa Fe made an official offer for New England Revolution defender Brayan Ceballos that was rejected. He states NE would accept a loan deal that has a mandatory purchase option.
Nothing on Revs media yet, but this report saying Revs have finalized deal with Yow: 2011181282156552347 is not a valid tweet id

Revs average age on the 28-man roster is currently down to 23.9 (was 26.3 last year). I just find that interesting.

Agreed. I've got no problem with any of the signings so far. Nothing wrong with getting even younger and bringing in more solid, potential starters. But... I thought it was pretty clear in the Porter years that our main issues were at the top of the roster, not the middle. Think back to the Shield winning team. What made them special? It was the number of elite (by MLS standards) players on the roster: Gil, Bou, Buksa, Turner, Buchanan... Those guys, surrounded by solid pros of the Polster/Bye/Kessler variety, could bring a team to the top of the table. Compare that to the start of last year, where our "elite" talent consisted of... Carles. Now, we've got Turner back. We've got Turgeman, who at least looked potentially "MLS elite" in the little we saw of him. But I still think we need one more legit, high-quality player, presumably a DP, to become a contender - either a passing maestro in the middle, or a creative winger/AM to complement Gil. Without that, I'm afraid we'll be solid, but lack the sizzle to really scare anyone.
You may have hit a different nail than you realized. Yes Buksa and Bou scored a combined 33 goals, but Buchanan on a supplemental roster spot played at a level that you included him along our DPs. Jones and Kessler were both getting buzz as inclusions on the national team. In 2023 when the team was 2nd in the East (before selling Djorde and sacking Bruce) we had Noel Buck (minimum salary) looking like a guy a PL team would make a multi million dollar offer for. So yes you absolutely have to hit on your DPs, and ideally your U22s, but the teams best years have also had big production from supplemental roster spots
Speaking for myself, right now all I want is a team that I can be proud of and gives me a reason to watch and attend games. The last two and a half years have been painful times to be a Revs STH. I don't need them to go full on "Pats 4-13 to 14-3" type of turnaround right away (although that would be nice). I do need them to get back to respectability. If indeed there is a new stadium coming in the next five years, eventually it is going to be much more expensive to attend these games and it sure as hell won't be possible to get things like free parking or the ease of ticket transfers. They need to give me an on-field reason to increase my investment in this team, and it needs to start this season. So be competitive, make a run at the playoffs, and actually try in the Open Cup. It really isn't asking too much.
This one finally announced six days later: Revolution acquire winger Griffin Yow from KVC Westerlo revolutionsoccer.net Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026, 12:00 PM
MLS Publishes 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) Available to Clubs Allocation money can be used to add talented players to MLS rosters ahead of 2026 season By MLS Communications Wednesday, Jan 21, 2026, 11:00 AM Revs at $3.3M, which is on the lower end of the list (Austin is last at $2.5M, Minnesota first with $7.3M). The Revs spent $2M of last year's GAM and half million of this year's GAM on Campana (plus another $750K contingent on performance).
As noted by the Blazing Musket, the Revs number will increase by $2M once the league allocates out the money for the 2DP/4U-22 decision.
They have to declare which model they are using before the season starts, and can make a one-time change in the summer. Given they already have four U-22s on the roster, I doubt they will be changing.
