If he's any good ... that would be a huge plus. I like Polster, but I'm done with him being a regular starter.
I like it a lot, but wow, seems really expensive. Sounds like Houston was convinced that Marko had to have his man.
Well, a Liberian-born US national-team midfielder just retired last year, so can we hope that Raines is his reincarnation? I would like that a lot. And FWIW, I watched a lot of the U-20 World Cup, and thought he was pretty good there.
Probably not a line of people lined up to take on Chancalay. Big question is can they upgrade Chancalay? Will they bring in a next level player?
Token return, but I assume it means they are taking his whole salary. At least I hope so. And, having done this, I also assume we'll be signing another DP, now that we've freed up the slot, as well as a foreign player roster spot.
11 days until they report to camp, 14 until they go to Florida. Ideally the if they plan on adding a new DP it would have been a month ago so they had time to get the P1 approved. Revs always seem to be late to the party. Revs website has zero players listed. I wonder if that is a mistake, if they are updating or about ready to add a player. My guess is updating I believe this is the current roster is at 25 Goalkeepers (3): Alex Bono, Donovan Parisian, Matt Turner Defenders (10): Tanner Beason, Brayan Ceballos, Andrew Farrell, Ilay Feingold, Mamadou Fofana, Keegan Hughes, Damario McIntosh, Peyton Miller, Will Sands, Santiago Suarez Midfielders (7): Carles Gil, Eric Klein, Allan Oyirwoth, Jack Panayotou, Matt Polster, Jackson Yueill, Alhassan Yusuf, Brooklyn Raines Forwards/Wingers (5): Leonardo Campana, Malcolm Fry, Luca Langoni, Dor Turgeman Draft picks: defender Schinieder Mimy and forward Kyle McGowan
Revs add another baby Nat. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/ne...g7tICEc3KBck7iEFvxfGSx_5qUln8EhZmN6TQ0os8YEX9
Hmmmm. It seems like the manger knows him and likes what he sees. Maybe not a top shelf player (yet), but it looks like the potential is there.
I think we should all expect to hear that word a lot over the next couple of years. The most important question is whether that potential can turn into a quality team before players like Carles are no longer able to keep up with the kids.
Revs are sponsoring a First Night ice sculpture this year at Atlantic Ave and Milk St. Happy new year!
Another youth on the radar. Attacker Griffin Yow, currently with Westerlo in Belgium, is being looked at by the Revs. The 23-year old winger came up through the DC Academy, played for them for a couple of years and has been in Belgium since, getting 18 goals in 82 appearances there. He's also played for Mitrovic before. https://bsky.app/profile/sethman31.bsky.social/post/3mbwdxb4sm22c
I'll be honest, this is starting to make me nervous. Is Onalfo doing ANYTHING? Why are we only looking at signing young kids Mitrovic has coached? Youth National Team players don't necessarily transfer well to the pros - MLS itself is filled with US U-whatevers that never panned out to even be bench pieces. That's happened with the Revs too (Tyler Polak, off the top of my head).
I dunno, I'm sort of fine with Onalfo being sidelined on player acquisition. Yeah, it's a waste of his job slot, but given that the signings he seems to be most involved with also seem to be busts (Ravas, Yueill), maybe doing nothing is better than doing something?
The recent correlations are better, although its still not 1:1. No matter where you shop there is a chance of ending up with Cody Cropper, but the last few U20 classes have had some pretty good players.
