LOL....Well, the feed was pretty blurry. Before reading the Costa Rican papers, I thought it was Harris taken down, not DH. Definitely not Twellman, though.

Looked to me like Hernandez was the one taken down, and I think that's what the announcer said. It wasn't bald-domed Wolde.

Did everyone else get a kick out of us switching to the blue uniforms because we were the "home" team?

Pretty sad none of the local papers printed anything. There were two articles on the San Jose game.

Sounds like Danni Boy had a great game for the Revs - gotta learn to keep his mouth shut in crucial situations though (not that it would have mattered much in the end - the officials might have just tossed someone else).

DH played very well. In the first game they danced around him in midfield, but he dominated their 2nd stringers. He and Franchino did very well on free kicks. I wonder who will take them when Moore comes back? I really wished JF had stepped in to stop his card. The Joseph card was really a bad call, but you can't get yourself tossed for dissent. In defense of JF, he probably let DH do his arguing for him, 'cuz he probably doesn't speak Spanish.

About the PK, I am sure it was DH that got brought down in the box. At first I thought it was Harris, but every CR paper refers to it as being him. They probably had a better view then I did on the smeared up, grainy video feed.

Pretty sad, again no mention in the Globe or Herald. Not even in the Scoreboard section.

Gutsy performance by the players who get shafted by ownership.

    They got shafted ?

    How so

Did their pay checks bounce ? Did they have to pay for their own airfare ? Meals ?

    Buy their own uniforms ?

    Give it a rest

We won for ************S sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's more to life than money, George.

And while we won yesterday, we still lost.

It was DH, for sure, on the 2nd attempt! He managed to fight off one tripping attempt and then they just wiped him out when he was still staggering from the first foul. Twellman's shot was low to his own right, the keeper guessed the wrong way and didn't bother to stick a hand out. Looked like TT did a little hesitation approach like Cate used to do.

#2 was a beautiful cross to an open Wolde, who headed it off the post, collected the rebound and slotted it home.

#3 was a great long ball from DH, putting Noonan behind the defense, where he calmly one-touched it to the far side.

The Joseph red-card, came after he was struggling to catch up to his mark after a long ball to the top of the penalty area. Looked like he overran him by a couple of steps and was coming back when the forward bounced the ball and it came up an hit his hand, which looked to me as though it was near his waist although maybe a little away from his body(similiar to the no-call against Germany in the WC). It certainly didn't look to me like he "played" the ball. Hand ball was the correct call, but red card, no way.

The Revs were under siege the rest of the way, and remarkably had a couple of decent chances, but it looked like a combination of extremely poor finishing and lucky stars that they only gave up one goal playing down 2.

One question, did DH have a yellow before he was dismissed, or did he get a straight red?

The total card disparity in the series was pretty incredible. Usually even if a team is nasty/dirty and deserving cards, the opponent will usually pick up a few on retaliations/dissent. LDA must be incredibly disciplined!!!

    Ya gotta love Revs fans

They can always find a reason to complain

Our team doesn't fold up, plays hard, pulls off a win without two projected startes away from home and you still can't be happy

    Fellowship of the miserable indeed

George - give it a break. We lost! It was a two leg, away and away, where total goals are the deciding factor. We lost 5 - 3. It really is pretty simple.

It's not like we have another chance.

So, you're happy they lost the series?

I am less happy than if the 2nd game had been a tie or another loss, because it suggests just how much the Revs gave up by selling the home game.

It is quite common for a teaming losing badly in the first game to not win the 2nd, so this result would be meaningful (in the long view only, of course) even if they had played in New England, but to do it playing 12 against 9 is genuinely impressive.

It's impossible to predict, but based on the other home leg results it is significantly more likely that with a real home leg, we would all be giddily talking about the Revs playing at the Azteca, instead of looking once more for moral victories.

    And that's worth complaining about.

I look at it more as a testament to the heart of the team

That they can take a beating and then come back and respond positively afterwards

Bodes well for the upcoming MLS season which is what they should be focused on

now i missed the game, glad to hear they got it together. let there be many more wins!

now even more unexcusable than giving up the home field, is for a team that wants to win hardware is to lose by four goals, not coming to play ON ANYBODY's pitch.

the boys blew it by not coming to play the first game.

    same story last season.
i hope this is a wake up call, that you can't expect to win every game in the last half of the season and slide into the playoffs.

they need to find a way not to lose on the road, in the first half of the season...

You would have been happier if they lost 9-0??!! You are the president of the fellowship of the miserable in that case!

George, I am with you. While not happy with management, and maybe less happy with management than I was before the game, I am happier overall now that it appears we do have a team that can win and win in adverse conditions.

They demonstrated that they were a quality team with heart, grit and determination. They made me happier about being a Revs supporter than if they had lost again.

Someone else was talking about 9-0. It helps to read before you post.

My point is that the win (on their field, in the rain) makes it clear that they had a chance, or rather, they would have if Revs management had the imagination required to find a field somewhere in New England for the 2nd leg. Conversely, if they had lost last night (against a team that would hardly be going all out with a 4 goal cushion), it would have suggested that they were in over their heads to begin with, and a home game wouldn't have made a difference.

I agree with you George. I'm always impressed at how negative some of our peers can be.
