Whew. Good for the Revs, good for Carlos Llamosa.
Things are getting a bit heavy down there. Nice time to be home. (Once again, clearblue's word is as good as gold.)

And, not to be a stick-in-the-mud, but is there some unwritten rule that says, as a sports journalist, you have to work a bad pun into EVERY headline...?

This should leave us with 1 roster spot and probably not much cash. I have a feeling that this will cut down on the likelyhood of us signing a good replacement for Nowak.

If Buhlman is good enough to sign (I'm saying that to make you happy John) then they probibly will let Griffith go which will still leave us with a roster slot and a SI slot open. Who the hell knows about Cap space.

I'm betting we will sign an attacking midfielder. We can get by with what we have on left wing right now Kamler and Griffith) but we really need a threat up the middle and better ability to hold and distribute the ball in the middle of the field.

What a great report. In fact I'm very pleased the way the Revs have been giving us daily reports from a player and now a basic report of who is there and how they are being employed. It will be fun to see how this all plays out and who gets signed.

    Just as a side note...

Most journos don't get the chance to create their own headlines.

Blame Gus for whatever you'd like, but cheesy headlines aren't his fault.

    No Digimarino?

I thought he was going to Brasil with the team.

Otherwise, it looks like everyone got on the field once or twice (30 minute sessions).

    quote from the game report...

"...and Twellman sent the ball to Moore who scored."

I am trying to stop salivating. With the news of Llamosa's return, I am getting quite restless for the start of this season.. On another note, it really does look like the management is listenign to the folks who are trying to figure out ways to make the website more appealing. I can only hope that they will start listening to those same people when they are tryign to figure out ways to make the game-day experience more enjoyable. All in all, the Revs have done it to me again...I'm hooked.

No apologies needed for Gus, he's my favorite Rev's journalist.

On the positive side, no one has used the phrases "addition by subtraction" or "needing time to gel" with regard to this Revs team yet.

The curmudgeon in me notices that they gave up 3 goals (albeit with a "makeshift" back line) to a Brazilain junior team (moacir feel free to chime in ;)).

    But, hell, it's r-e-a-l early.

And at least they didn't get smoked by a U-17 team (chortle).

It appears from the report that Juniors scored their three between the 23rd minute and the 58th. So maybe a quick check on the participants of the 2nd session is needed. And, yes, it IS early too.

As the producer of a T.V. news broadcast, I'd have to say "Yes" to your question... sports guys are real wackos.

    Baby steps, baby steps...

The copy desk/layout editors write the headlines. See, depending on the layout, it will impact how many words you have to work with, and you don't know that until the page is laid out.

One thing I'm really glad to see is a lot fewer uses of the word "kick" in any soccer story. It used to be almost automatic that some ee-jit copy editor would almost always use the phrase "gets a kick" or some variation, figuring they were being clever, see, cause in soccer you kick the ball. That just summed up the entire soccer knowledge of said copy editor, so it's unrealistic that anyone would even question a reporter who writes that Grimandi played for "Monte Carlo in the French league" when we all know the club is really Monaco.
