The Winds Of Change Are Currently At Gale Force by Jim Dow Should the Revs establish ties with an overseas club? By Brian O'Connell
Dow's article is dead-on. As for whether the Revs should establish ties with an overseas club....only if it is a club the Krafts will listen to, and only if these are meaningful ties and not the "honorary sister of the year" stuff MLS clubs have played at the last few years.
Yeah, me too! Their coverage is fantastic, they get a little bit more time to sit down and talk about the team, too. A little bit different than FDA, but hey, the more the merrier! I like how our letters have kind of resulted in something to post in these news threads everyday. It kind of makes it feel professional-like.
I love it that Adam actually responded to my question in his article comments. Might we have a blog in the making?
Just so its not buried - Twellman injures groin. Will miss US Match against mexico. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=653882
So I'm a Revs fan and have started my own satirical blog. I hope you don't mind me linking to the story I wrote today. New England Revolution Show No Sign of Bolstering Squad Claim Adding Players Would Disrupt One Day Training Camp Chemistry February 2, 2008 http://thesillyseason.net/us/new-england-revolution-show-no-sign-of-bolstering-squad/
Since it's a slow news day (as compared to other, no-news days in Revs land...) I'll post a couple of blasts from the past. How many of these guys can you name?
Not sure Tony, but he's a damn handsome man! Great pics, and a ton of memories. Thank you... BTW, I had a great laugh at Jim's season ticket invoice from 66. My seats are now $890 for the year (and that's for one of my two tickets). We don't have the option of a "budget plan," everything has to be paid immediately (by early April IIRC).
I think if you go left to right it's Gio Savarese, Jamar Beasley, Kris Kelderman, Paul Keegan, Walter Zenga....not sure who 14 is (Shaun Medved maybe?)... Ted Chronopolous... Chaka Daly maybe?..., Carlos Parra, Zak Ibsen, and Burnsie.
Wasn't Ivan McKinley 14 before he switched to 7? Sure looks like him (right size, anyway, sorta hard to tell with him looking sideways)
It's the first XI from the friendly match vs Ajax in 1999. left to right: Savarese, Beasley, Kelderman, Keegan, Zenga, McKinley, Chronopoulos, Joe Addo (who ended up signing with Tampa Bay instead), Carlos Parra, Dunseth, Burns
...and it was the failure to sign Joe Addo which in retrospect seems to have launched the "why can't they sign people they obviously need?" theme we still see daily on this board. That was a great match, BTW. I remember that Ajax fielded a B or possibly a C team, and they were having trouble containing Beasley. At one point JB was hacked down, and we were saying payback in 3...2...1..., and sure enough, an Ajax player was stretchered off the field.
