I'm shocked at how many people cited this woman after the game. You know you're truly an @shehole when everyone knows who you are by this brief description! (I was a proud pappa too when Ali tried to pick a fight with that woman) That bridge clogging has been a problem these last few weeks, and with last night's numbers, it showed that it won't work very well. A smart Rider went out the West exit, and then came down the stairs on the hill I guess? I think it was a temporary solution, but might be the smart way to go on the off chance that we get another good crowd. Game-wise, we took the points we needed, and that's all I can ask. Plus-side, the 3.5 hours tailgate seemed to work out well, with no major issues. Guess we should just do that all the time now, right?
How about the wisdom of Dan Shaugnessy on Channel 7 last night? Yeah, there's someone I want to hear talk about soccer.
Anyone know Ralston's injury status after the game? In the spirit of giving credit where due (and I may have missed this conversation from earlier), but Bob Ryan's article on Beckham in the Sunday Globe was actually quite good
Rep to whoever made that sign, too. Our creativity as futbol fans outstrips the rest of the professional sports universe which bans banners! First amendment forever! Annoy the sippy-cup police! Ding dong, Karl Rove is dead! Yeagh!
Oh by the way there was a game played... Julie I think this means she should stay in the bathroom for most of the game... Eventually, the Revs & Bruins are battling it out for fourth most relevant team in town now... I loved the way we played, especially seeing as Galaxy is made up of mostly kids who should be playing for the California Victory or whatever they're called...I thought Noonan had some great chances but considering the over-the-top physical play by Galaxy...this game should've been 3-1 Revs. >:-<
I actually tried to get in her way, but I was no match for that mass of momentum. Also, did anyone else see the ambulance making it's way out through the main driveway by our lot after the game? My guesses: Beckham's new ESPN tatoo got infected Some little kid got trampled by the hulk-woman The hulk woman got a beat-down when someone mistook her for a man (She did look rather mannish).
Agreed on all counts. Twellman really should have had 2 or three tonight ... it was stunning how many times he missed shots that he used to put away. But it was fun walking out of a game with 35K there that we won. That really was pathetic. I'm going to complain to the Revs, but who knows what they can do. I wouldn't say we weren't good, but I will say we should have been better. Finishing is still a problem for this team. Actually for a change, I thought he was good last night. His crosses weren't bad, a couple were actually very good. Yes, he did have the one that went to Somerville... Not fully in agreement, but the sentiment is mostly echoed. Terrible team. That's pretty much how to describe LA. It really should have been more of a blowout. And yes... I'm starting to see the Twellman bashers might have a point. Coming up on the fun part of the schedule! As someone mentioned, I'm not sure how much the construction might have played a part. But I'm just glad I got there at 3:30. I was surprised by them not going after Thompson more as well. But it was a typical Landycakes game. When he wants to, he can turn it on. But he sleeps through too much. Agreed. A win's a win. Yeah ... we really seemed to be falling asleep late in the game. Bad mistakes almost killed us. Just classless. The Fort was pissed ... as I'm sure you heard. Definitely glad I got there early. I still want to know how we were in the way? Like the cluster f at the bridge wasn't the problem... we were? We're locking you in the bathrooms in both Denver and KC. I like the West exit idea, but we'd lose the drum circle ... and that really is getting more and more people involved. Nice to see the field without football lines. Good crowd that actually appeared to really be supporting the Revs. Good win. Three points. Let's keep it up and take at least 4 on the Dick Wiz Tour.
Well for the first time ever last year, I didn't see a Revs game. I did go to the game last night, thoroughly enjoyed it, and wasn't really bothered not to see Becks (admittedly I would have liked to have seen him play, but it's secondary to the game). I'm going to make the effort to go again sometime this year. Strangely, my wife and I had a completely opposite experience exiting the game, we got out in about 10 minutes from lot 3 from the time we opened the car doors. I think it was just pure chance we managed to avoid most of the backups, and we'd fortuitously parked close to the exit road leading out of the lot. The bridge was a joke -must have taken 10 minutes to get across 50 yards. I didn't see the green woman or two guys arguing, but I did let a kid get back to his mom after he got separated when he ended up behind me (pleased his parents I think). I didn't see any unpleasant policing either, but that could be because I wasn't trying to get to a specific lot. Loved TNTs goal, nice footwork. Based on the number of chances he received from the first half, it was just a matter of time.
That's right ... I hadn't even thought of that. The only ones that select few will miss are September 9th in DC, and October 6th in Chicago.
That was one of the most horrendous games I have watched in a long time. LA is so f'ing bad. It really should have been 5-0. The revs played some interesting soccer at times, but every time LA would touch the ball it was like watching a u-8 team trying to learn how to juggle. Ironically Beckham was brought to LA to not only raise the PR aspect of the team, but also the quality on the pitch, yet the LA Galaxy literally play the most awful brand of soccer I think I have ever seen. I have seen teams play down to their competition, and I have seen teams play up to it, but I have never seen a single team unintentionally ruin a game. It isn't as though they were playing with 10 behind the ball and were hoping for a draw or even a 1-0 win. They are just so bad that they can't even move the ball if they wanted to. I'd feel bad for them, because Lalas has really built a terrible team, but it's the Galaxy, and I really don't give a sh!t. Sadly they are the show piece of the league right now to everyone that is riding on the back of the Beckham bandwagon. Hopefully atleast some people will realize how well and entertaining the Revs did, and will play from here on out. Also, the crowd atmosphere was pretty lame. The small section of the fort was louder than the other 25 thousand people in the stadium combined. I spent 90% of the game watching hot high school chicks play with each others hair, and their moms and dads talking on their cellphones. Well done to those in the fort...to the rest of you, BLAH!
Did you ride in the PMC? I saw a sign out there cheering on "Dr. Jay"! Very strong 1st half for the Revs, who should have been leading by several goals, as Nicol said. The chances Twellman was missing were getting ridiculous. It's like clockwork, after every game somebody's gotta complain about Khano. WHO created those great chances that Twellman missed? In the first half, he had at least two picture perfect crosses that should have been buried. Thompson was ready to go in sooner for Smith, but then Ralston got hurt and they pulled him back until they could determine whether Ralston could continue. In the 2nd half, we got too impatient and settled for way too many speculative long balls - trying to do it the easy way. The other thing that really hurt us in the 2nd half were the offsides calls. Our guys (particularly Noonan) were completely clueless once they started running the trap on us. Noonan was offside several times, when he wasn't even watching the defenders, but that doesn't even count the 2-3 times he has too run away from a pass because he knows he's late coming back onsides. I don't know why our forwards are so tuckered out that they have to come back to their own end at a slow jog with their heads down. What an ALMOST highlight reel play where Cannon slid to save a corner and ended up poking it right to Twellman, who one-timed it just on top of the goal. That was VERY close; and, oh, how sweet that would have been! LA really sucks, but, offensively at least, they looked a lot more threatening against DC on Thursday. IF Beckham can get healthy and IF LA can pull its stuff together a make a late run, there's a slim chance we could see them back here in the playoffs. Wouldn't that be a riot if Becks came back in October and 9000 showed up to see him play?!
There was a world of difference between the people on the "regular" side of the stadium and the people on the side that'sd usually covered.
to be perfectly honest, other than the fort, and a few random scatterings of large groups in some sections, almost the entire crowd was horrible. It's nice to see 30K at Gillette, but when one section of the stadium is making 99% of the noise, that is not great. I also Tivod the game and watched it this morning, and the crowd was even quieter on TV. Like how the BBC boosts up crowd noises for their broadcast of the Premiership, the Revs broadcasts should just put all the the crowd mic's in the fort. Oh, and they should mute Lalas and Feldmans microphones. As I've said before, I would rather watch a muted TV than listen to those bumbling idiots.
Monty, Did you notice any of the regular microphones placed in front of the Fort? Of course not, because they weren't there. Nor were many of the other usual crowd mics. For whatever reason, the TV audio was not set up per the usualy arrangements for a TV38 broadcast. We all clearly heard the crowd on the other end after Twellman's first miss. The crowd was into it. Too bad the TV audio wasn't up to snuff...
I had such a blast at the game last night. I thought the energy from the crowd was great--I wish it was like that every game. I love when they open up the entire stadium...I got my chicken tenders in 5 minutes Twellman had a great goal. Heaps was solid. Parkhurst looked good. Kano had a couple of pretty sweet crosses. My only complaint was when Steve Ralston was down and LA took all the time in the world to keep the ball in play. I realize they are not obligated to play the ball out, but when its a veteran like Ralston...I don't know, it just rubbed the wrong way. I thought it was very classless to keep playing even when the ball was at the midfield.
To be honest, I usually don't notice the microphones even if they're there. Anyway, I'm just stating what the LA fans said. As I'd noted earlier, I thought the Fort sounded great.
