Tom Bogert seems convinced that Buck is gone to the EPL in the off-season. Supposedly Tottenham was very interested, but Buck's play-above-expectations raised his price beyond what they were looking for. Bogert expects other teams will be more involved this winter, with a price in the $5M - $10M range. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/08/...am-now-set-to-miss-out-on-midfield-sensation/ I have to say that Buck's play hasn't been nearly as impressive since his return from injury - I think we saw that against Montreal. I don't know if it's lagging effects of the injury, conditioning, confidence, rhythm or whatever, but hopefully for the Revs, he will regain his form. It wouldn't be surprising to me if the young players, like Buck, are most thrown by Arena's suspension. If he doesn't bounce back, it will be interesting to see what effect that has on EPL interest/offers. Bogert also mentions the battle between the USNT and English NT to get him in their programs. He says he's almost certain that England will call him up in September.
According to the Revolution Recap podcast, Buck is the lowest paid member of the team currently. I think is salary is under $60g per year - per them. That being the case he's either getting a large pay raise, or he'll take any offer that comes from an English club assuming the Revs want to sell him now. I can't see anyone paying $10M for him, however. He's good but he's not that good. Sounds like the agent or the dad may be in Bogert's ear.
Buck makes the league minimum base salary, same as Bolma and Panayotou, which is $67K. https://mlsplayers.org/resources/salary-guide
So, Bye won't be back until around Memorial Day: Revolution defender Brandon Bye undergoes successful knee surgery revolutionsoccer.net Monday, Aug 28, 2023, 04:00 PM
His 9 month recover has been underway for 3 months already. Id wager his return is closer to the end of next year's preseason
I'm not so sure. I think the combination of his age, size, speed, confidence, versatility and scoring ability is a pretty big deal. It's a great opportunity to get a player who is young and still developing, so his improvement curve can be even better in a top program. $10M might be pretty steep (that was the top of the range), but somewhere at or above $5M certainly seems possible. All that said, I think he needs to at least get back to playing as well as he was before his injury. As for his current salary, I'm sure the Revs would love to renegotiate that in exchange for more years.
Emergency call up from Revs II. He was on the bench last night. I wonder if Jacob Jackson is injured? Revolution add goalkeeper Nico Campuzano on Short-Term Agreement revolutionsoccer.net Wednesday, Aug 30, 2023, 06:15 PM
He kind of flashed his talent last night on that play where he collected that ball in the air while holding off a defender then got off a good shot without any wasted motion. I imagine that he starts Saturday.

A little good news. Some positive #NERevs news: Tomáš Vaclík’s visa has been approved. He’s expected to arrive in New England before the weekend.— Sean Donahue (@SeanLDonahue) September 13, 2023
right before the Hurricane hits! Do we get GAM for parting ways with 3 coaches and giving one and extended vacation?
But that's a legit question when it comes to the next "big" signings we will need to make. Say what you want about Arena, but I'm guessing that he at least had something to do with being able to get the quality players from outside the league in recent years. Gil, Bou, Buksa, Petrovic, and now Vaclik, guys who have at least a decent pedigree and have played for some decent clubs. Also, the fact that the club sold guys like Buchanan, Turner, Buksa, and Petrovic is a clear message to, say, a young Argentine or Braziian, whose ultimate goal is to play in Europe, that the Revs won't stand in his way. I have to wonder now where our next big signings are coming from, since that was never something we did very well, and because of this, are they going to revert to the bad old days? Guys like Joseph and Twellman were not sold to Celtic and Preston and allowed to make like 4x their Revs salaries. Of course, we all knew that they could never find replacements even half as good as those guys, so from a competitive team point of view, I agreed with it. But it's not good for recruitment.
I gotta believe that when an agent pitches a transfer to a player, one of the first things they're gonna do is find out what the manager has won.
Probably the 3rd thing they'll do, after figuring how much more money their client (and therefore themself) will make in their new locale, and how much competition for playing time thebplayer can expect from the rest of the roster
The Krafts are absentee landlords, sure, but they pay attention to the bottom line. The way the club has operated over the last 4 years prior to this epic shit show, which at the end of the day is a temporary PR nightmare if they can finally move past it, has had a significantly positive impact on the Kraft family's Revolution bottom line. They've seen attendance rise and they've seen millions in transfer fees come in. They backslide, and they lose all of that ability to make money. They have to see the need to make a strong investment in their soccer operations resources because it is a moneymaker if they do, and that is what matters to them.
Sure, but we've thought that before. Yes, the Krafts definitely want to continue down the recent path of finding gems, building a good team and considering offers to sell at a serious profit. Without knowing who exactly (but we have a pretty good idea) is responsible for this, can this continue? We may bring in a few players that might appear be at the Gil/Bou/Buksa level, but can we realistically expect to keep the same hit/miss ratio? Lots of clubs far bigger and far richer than us have made some seriously expensive mistakes on player signings, so even if the desire is there, is the competence there?
