Have to think that Peay and Ramos probably know each other pretty well. Tab is probably as good an assistant as they could find on an interim basis and has the MLS coaching experience that the staff doesn't have.
He also had a very impressive run as the US u20 HC for 4 cycles before taking on his MLS gig, so he's got some accumen
Tab was one of my favorite players all time and I think this is a good move. Maybe he can teach us how to score goals? As others have said, he did have a great U20 team. He seemed to leave about the time GB arrived and ive always wondered if GB pushed him out? Tab played attacking soccer with the U20s while GB plays knock it around and pray. Too much of a conflict in styles for Tab to survive. What his role will be with the Revs remains to be seen but one thing I do see is no room for Richie anymore. Tab was a start during his Nat run until his knee was taken out in a game (Costa Rica I think), Richie was always a hack. Tab was never the same after that cheap tackle
Between Houston (old owner who didn't spend) and Hartford (lowest valuation in the east) hes definitely had to turn chicken shot into chicken salad. He couldn't do it, so it's hard to say he's an A+ coach, but I don't think being bad with bad players necessarily means a coach is terrible
It's hard to see a role for Richie Williams now - he's on leave because the players and coaches revolted against his leadership. They can't really ask him to take a role on Revs II or the academy without it being a demotion, so it will probably come down to whether there is any role in the org that he wants to do, outside of working with the first team. I suspect he'll just stay on leave until his contract runs out (or maybe they'll work out a buyout of the remaining deal).
I'm wondering what's happened with Boateng - it seems like he's been buried, maybe out of demonstrating too much loyalty to Arena(?). When guys like Ben Sweat and Tico Rivera are getting the call and he isn't, you've got to wonder.
I'm surprised to see Ema fall so far, too, but I do think he wasn't playing as well later in the season as he was earlier. We may have put too many minutes on him in the early part of the season. Maybe they are trying to give him some time to recharge, but it has been a head scratcher to see him fall so far beneath guys who I think are beneath him.
It is official now: New England Revolution hire Tab Ramos as assistant coach revolutionsoccer.net Tuesday, Sep 19, 2023, 02:00 PM
Good. It's good for hopefully stabilizing the club, plus Edwards' distribution is getting worse the more he plays it seems.
Its the hallmark of a good backup. He can come in cold and do the job for a couple weeks, but if he is forced to play for too long he wears out
I'd say that throughout his shot-stopping has been very good. That said, I thought he had trouble finding paths to distribute the ball under Colorado's pressure - a number of times he rolled it out to players up the middle who weren't that open and it seemed like needless risk (since they were mostly just played back to him under pressure).
This. He doesn't command his box and seems indecisive at times which can be a death knell for a goalkeeper. Shot stopping has been consistently good. Edwards has performed admirably but the revs need to upgrade the position to make a serious run in the playoffs and compete at the top next season.
Speaking of goal keepers, the Columbus match was yet another one where Vaclik couldn't even make the bench. Did anyone actually scout this guy? Are we back to the Mike Burns era already?
Don't think it has anything to do with ability. Still, I have to think Peay's being over-cautious, given how fast the regular season is running out. We need to find out who is going to be our playoff goalie.

Big. TAM deal with 2 years and an option in 2026. TAM covers a pretty wide range, so could be anywhere from $700k to $1.7M. Probably fair based on the combo of his obvious talent and upside but also his injury history. Hope we don't get stuck with a trainer table merchant
I've felt like he was pretty intent on trying international, but probably the injuries have set back those prospects. In any case, very happy that he'll be here for at least a couple of more seasons.

he can always look at his revs peers who got extensions and then transferred on for comfort. Tajon, Turner, Petro, Buksa all got re-signed and all got their big money move abroad.
Yeah, signing an extension and moving to Europe are not mutually exclusive. This isn't like Shalrie Joseph (Celtic) and Taylor Twellman (Preston) who would have made about 4x their Revs salaries had they been sold. But there's no doubt we would not have been able to replace them with players even half as good (even if we had wanted to), so the fan in me was glad they stayed. It's a completely different game now.
