Revolution II Game Preview: New England Hosts Orlando City B in Final Home Match of Regular Season posted: Wednesday, Sep 6, 2023, 02:57 PM R2 still have an outside shot at the top seed (and first-round bye). If Crown Legacy hang on to the top spot and the Revs finish second, R2 will get to pick their first round opponent from the bottom 3 seeds (5-7). Currently that would be Orlando, Huntsville and Chicago.
Love that - I've been advocating for that kind of playoff system. Just imagine the lucky team if Miami qualifies for the playoffs.
POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II battle Orlando City B to 1-1 Draw revolutionsoccer.net Thursday, Sep 7, 2023, 10:15 PM Max Weinstein with 2 saves in the PK shootout to claim the 2 points. R2 have 1 game remaining, six pts ahead of NYRB (2 GR) and 8 pts ahead of CLB (3 GR), and they can't finish any lower than 4th.
NYRB II and CLB2 both lost this weekend, so R2 have clinched 2nd place in the East. Crown Legacy got 2 pts (SW), enough to clinch 1st place and the 1st-round bye. MLS-NP Decision Day is September 24th, but R2 have the lone bye that match day. R2 finish at Crown Legacy this Sunday (9/17) in what is essentially a meaningless game, other than a potential preview of the Eastern Conference Final.
R2 lose (in a meaningless game) in regulation for the first time since June 18th. POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II Fall to Crown Legacy FC, 1-0 revolutionsoccer.net Sunday, Sep 17, 2023, 03:28 PM With their coaching staff poached by the first team, Rob Becarra took charge in this one. They finish the regular season with a record of 14W-6L-8T(6SW) 56 pts, good for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. The rest of the league still has one more game to play. R2 gets to sit back and wait to see who finished 5th through 7th, and will choose their first round opponent from them. It will be one of these 5 teams: Current Eastern Conference standings: 5: ORL 43 pts 6: CHI 41 pts 7: PHI 39 pts --- 8: NYC 38 pts 9: HNT 37 pts
This one was meaningless because win, lose or draw, R2 would finish in 2nd place and Crown Legacy would finish in first.
Esmir with a brace as the Revs had a 3-0 lead and held on to beat 7th ranked Philly 3-2 yesterday. It's the first Revs II playoff win in their 4 years. They will be hosting the Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup. Charlotte will get to pick their opponent and we will play the remaining team, 4th seed RBNY II or 3rd seed Crew.
Interesting twist in the West. The 3-seed, SKC2, chose to play the 4-seed (ATX2) instead of 5 or 6. That cost ATX a home game in the first round. It came back to bite them, as ATX won 2:0. 5-seed STL2, who inherited the home game ATX2 lost, was upset by SJE2 (6-seed), 2:0. All other home teams won. Matchup selections are due tomorrow (Tuesday).
I really like the idea of teams being able to choose their lower-seeded opponent, but it does seem to introduce the element of karma into it (fully acknowledging that it's not really what karma means). But, maybe that's part of the appeal of it - do you want to choose your opponent strategically ..., but tempt fate in doing so?
Bad defending on both Philly goals. Esmir's two goals were both beauties. How we earned a spot in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Semifinals ⬇️📽️ pic.twitter.com/qE7uuvxSjd— New England Revolution II (@NERevolution2) October 2, 2023
Crown Legacy (Charlotte) selected 3-seed Columbus, which means R2 get 4-seed NYRB2. They will host the Bulls Friday night at 7pm. https://www.mlsnextpro.com/news/no-1-seeds-pick-opponents-for-upcoming-conference-semifinals
NYRB2 has earned 8 out of 9 pts in their 3 matches vs R2 this year, giving R2 two of their six losses this season. So not the greatest matchup for R2. April 21: NYR 1:0 @ Revs June 4: @NYR 4:1 Revs August 6: NYR 1(4):1(3) @ Revs

From the article: This is a wonderful and mature reflection for such a youngin. He should really speak to the 1st team at length about this.
Went to the game on Friday and I was really glad I did as it was a fun and entertaining game. Revs got a great start with the early goal from Fry. RB was tough and persistent and it felt like they would be coming on hard. Revs got their 2nd and it felt like they has some security, but Suarez was stripped after being too casual with the ball (after he had gotten away with it earlier) and RB scored to close to 2-1. Pressure was building towards the end, but the late subs helped Revs to hold on till the final whistle. Jack Pana played pretty well, but the real star was Peyton Miller at left wing - you can just see that he's got that something special. That said, they really could have used Esmir, but Revs I needed him for the bench in Orlando (and undoubtedly will again in Nashville - which is a shame, because that was supposed to be an open weekend!).

I'm thinking of going to the match on Saturday. For planning purposes, are any food concessions open during the game?
Bob's right. Just checked with someone who goes to a bunch of the games. They do have one and it has a minimal beer option, if that's something that might interest you.

With all our international duties R2s GameDay squad is a little light. No esmir, no jack p, no bolma. Expect all 3 to be on the team sheet later todat
Another heart-breaking finish. CLB took 22 shots without getting one on net (Revs blocked 12) before getting their first SOG in the 90', then scoring the winner in 90+1'. The CB duo of Cayet and Souza, who led the team in minutes this year, were rock solid. Hopefully the senior game won't be as heart-breaking...
