R2 shorthanded (due to U-19 championship, I assume), with only 4 on the bench, and all 4 played. Backup GK Nico Campuzano played 7 minutes at CB.
POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II battle Huntsville FC to 0-0 draw revolutionsoccer.net Sunday, Jul 2, 2023, 11:23 PM Jacob Jackson made 8 saves for his second clean sheet in 6 games this season, adding another save in the shootout (his 3rd shootout win this year). R2 are 4-0 in shootouts this year, including 3 in their last 5 games.
Recent first-team signing Peyton Miller scores his first for R2. Adebayo-Smith continues to impress with 2 assists in this one. POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Inter Miami, 2-0 Sunday, Jul 9, 2023, 09:51 PM revolutionsoccer.net
Due to the first team game, this one was played at 11am, but R2 come up with a huge victory over the first-place CLT team, moving only 3 pts behind them. Like the first team, a late goal wipes out the shutout bid. POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Crown Legacy FC, 3-1 revolutionsoccer.net Wednesday, Jul 12, 2023, 05:20 PM Adebayo-Smith with his 8th goal of the season, 7th in the league Golden Boot race (4 players are tied for the lead with 10, including ex-Rev Nick Firmino). Peyton Miller with his second goal in as many games. MLS Next All-Star Olger Escobar gets an assist in his second start for R2. Another academy player, Eric Klein, makes his professional debut. R2 now off until July 30th, when they travel to Chicago.
That was a pretty sweet assist by Escobar - a lot like Gil's assist to Vrioni last night. Apparently there was some drama with the Crown Legacy coaching staff. Head coach got a yellow, then another yellow to someone and a straight red for physical contact with the 4th official. So, it sounded like head coach and one assistant ejected. And then later, the coach was still hanging around when CL was taking a corner and ref had to shoo him away from the field, so you have to think there's some serious discipline coming. It was all off-screen and the broadcaster seemed a little confused by all that was going on. It came shortly after the 2nd goal, so they may have thought there was an offside (there wasn't).
16 year old Academy product Olger Escobar has become the 10th player through that system to sign with Revs II.
Jack Panayotou continues to impress, having a great game (and scoring a goal) for Revs II at Chicago last night. Peyton Miller also was great. It was a heavy lineup of Academy products starting with Esmir, Jack, Rivera and Miller all in the lineup, along with Bolma and McNamara. 🚨 15 year old US youth international Peyton Miller vs Chicago Fire 2 today ☑️ 90 min⚽️ 1 assist🔑 4 chances created🔀 1 Big Chance Created🔥 7 recoveries⚔️7 passes into final 3rd🚀4/4 tackles won✅ 8.6 fotmob rating (MOTM)Huge performance by the youngster 🔥#NERevs pic.twitter.com/W2y5FtY6jo— Revs Xtra (@RevsXtra) July 31, 2023
Nice to see McNamara get 60 minutes in his rehab start. He should be back with first team soon. Miller with his third assist of the season, behind only Adebayo-Smith (4).
Shootout loss for Revs II last night after a 1-1 tie v RBNY II. Jordan Adebayo-Smith with his 9th of the season accounted for the Revs lone goal. Also, it was missed from last Friday, but Revs II signed Patrick Leal from the Academy.
Leal with an assist in his first appearance for R2. Revs give up the tying goal at 90+5'. Shootout went 8 rounds, but only 7 PKs scored out of 16.
I dont think we should be able to cal! Leal a homegrown. He hasnt been in our acaedemdy since 2017 when he left for Portugal, and actually made a senior appearance for Venezia in serie B last year. Cool he came back, but still
Nowhere in that article does it refer to him as a homegrown. Doesn't mean he isn't, just not sure what triggered your post.
The quote says they signed him "from the academy". It implies that's where he's been for the last 6 years training and now we're giving him a shot, instead of reality which is he played in our academy 6 years ago as a14 year old and has spent the last 6 years playing/training in Europe
R2 done dirty by R3 (as Monty called them)? Defender Ben Reveno moves to Indy Eleven on loan for remainder of 2023 season revolutionsoccer.net Monday, Aug 7, 2023, 03:00 PM Actually, this may be at the Revs request, as he's only played 10 games (516 min) with Birmingham this year.
Revs II won at Orlando City B last night 5-4, helped by a red card for Orlando in stoppage time of the first half. Adebayo-Smith with his 10th of the season, Miller with a goal along with Panayotou and Bolma (and an own goal). With the win, the team moves to second in the East (4 points behind Crown Legacy FC who do have a game in hand). Adebayo-Smith is tied for fourth in the league in goals, 3 behind league leader and ex-Rev Nick Firmino.
POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Orlando City B, 5-4 Wednesday, Aug 9, 2023, 09:11 PM revolutionsoccer.net A few random thoughts on this game: Orlando started a few first team players: Rodrigo Schlegel, Felipe Martins, GK Mason Stajduhar. Bolma chipped the keeper for what would have been his first professional goal, but Adebayo-Smith tapped it in to claim it. Bolma later got his first on a PK (which he also earned by getting fouled in the box). Miller had a big game. He had a nice goal, and also the cross that turned into the own goal. He looks like he is going to be something special. R2 have 6 games left (several teams have 7). The top 7 in the conference make the playoffs, so six teams would have to leapfrog them in those 6-7 games for them to miss out.
Oh no. twenty minutes into the rev 11 game and Chancalay limps off with a non-contact leg injury. Oh no.
Cautiously optimistic news I’m told the injury that forced Tomás Chancalay off in the first half is a thigh contusion and is not expected to be serious. #NERevs— Jeff Lemieux (@jeff_lemieux) August 14, 2023
POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Atlanta United 2, 5-1 Sunday, Aug 13, 2023, 11:01 PM revolutionsoccer.net R2 with a dominant performance: Shots: 27:6 SOG: 12:1 Tommy Mac went the full 90, and although he didn't get on the score sheet, he was instrumental in the build up on a few of the goals. Adebayo-Smith came off the bench for Chancalay in the 21' and scored a brace. That gives him 12 on the year, one behind Nick Firmino (who was on the other side of the field this game) and 3 behind the league leader (Matt Myers, NYC2). Rivera and Bajraktarevic each with their sixth goal of the season, tied with Marcos Dias for 2nd on R2. Noble Okello, who looked good with the first team in pre-season, but has missed a few months due to injury, scored his first of the year in his 5th appearance. Crown Legacy FC have clinched a playoff spot at 50 pts. R2 are in second with 46 pts.
Watched about the final 70' and it was kind of a weird game. Before Atlanta equalized in the first half, commentators said the Revs were totally dominating. For the rest of the half though, Revs were pretty much on their heels and couldn't get much going when they did win the ball. Revs finally broke through in the 2nd half after missing a whole bunch of quality looks, then got the 3rd, insurance goal while it was still pretty competitive, then Atlanta totally collapsed in end, giving up two tap-ins. Esmir missed a bunch of good chances, before he finally cashed in a couple - still he brought a lot of quality to the game. Rivera also stood out IMO. The goal that basically decided it was a nice pressure/steal from Adebayo-Smith, who then played give-go with McNamara and then headed in the save off his initial shot.
A scoreless result in Toronto was still good enough to get Revs II into the playoffs on Friday. They did win the shootout. First time that Revs II have made the playoffs.
Two points combined with PHI loss clinched it for R2. PHI dropped below the line, and while they can technically catch R2 by winning out (and R2 losing out) they would be tied at 48 pts and PHI would have more 3-pts wins. However, PHI still have to play Huntsville (2 pts ahead of PHI), so if PHI were to win that game, then Huntsville would drop below the line (unable to reach 48 pts). Congrats to coach Peay and his squad! Interestingly, R2's next opponents are PHI (away, this Sunday) and HNT (home, FRI Sep 1st). R2 now unbeaten (in regulation) in 9 straight (4W, 5D).
POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Philadelphia Union II, 3-0 revolutionsoccer.net Sunday, Aug 27, 2023, 09:45 PM Marcos Dias comes off the bench to bag his 7th and 8th goals of the season. Campuzano makes 6 saves to earn the shut out (1.27 xGA).
Unlike the first team, R2 showing no ill effects of the coaching change (Clint Peay moved up to the first team to backfill for Richie, Marcelo Santos has taken over R2). POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II defeat Huntsville City FC, 3-0 revolutionsoccer.net Friday, Sep 1, 2023, 10:44 PM The penultimate game of the regular season is this Sunday at home vs Orlando City B.
Correction, this game has been rescheduled to Thursday (tomorrow) at 6pm. It will be streamed on Apple TV. A win would clinch second place in the East.
