    Revs in the Gold Cup

    Linky.

Twellman, Parkhurst and Ralston will be representing the Revs - the most from any team. Dempsey has also been named.

No Matt Reis - Guzan got the call ahead of him. Of course, Keller may not be healthy in time to play, so there's still a chance.

    Lets use this thread.

Tough news. Riley for Parkhurst, Thompson for Ralston, and Noonan/Christman for Twellman.

Not awful so at least we have replacements - the question is if we pick up any injuries, we are going to be looking thin.

Also, I wonder if that means Reis will be going to Copa America?

I guess we can't say we didn't see this coming, but ouch!, it still hurts to think about it.

If there is any good news, it's that we get to keep Reis.

Here's to hoping the rookies step up in a big way. I guess we'll know in about a month.

It's CRISTMAN, folks, Cristman. He's not our savior yet.

    But yeah, tough on us.

I would imagine Reis for CA, yeah.

    No huge surprise.

All of that depth that we supposedly have better start showing itself soon.

Damn, this could hurt. But ... congrats to all three for being called up, especially Parky.

The most important thing about our team is that we play in a system. Currently that system is working really well. Missing three starters really shouldn't have that much of an impact despite how important they are. Parkhurst also missed a bunch of games early in the season which we did ok in.

Yeah Reis is definitely Copa America bound.

Is Avery John going to get the call up for T&T? If so who plays LB?

Yes, we missed Parkhurst earlier this year, but not Twellman and Ralston. Twellman has 6 of our 15 goals on the year. Luckily others have picked up single goals here and there, but now the pressure will be on them to do it. Same with missing Ralston.
My guess is yes, he'll be called up. In regards to LB? Good question. If Hernandez really is going to be OK to play anytime soon, he can take over for Parkhurst, and Riley at LB would seem the most realistic.

All well deserved....Too bad for Matt, he's certainly better than El Guzano! I really hope BB didn't decide NOT to take Matt because it would have left the Revs really short...

I'll say it yet again, our players should not be denied the opprotunity to represent their country because of MLS' policy to play through these tournaments...If it means we lose all of our best players and drop league matches, so be it!~

I'll always be country over club...

    Congrats fellas!!:D

Not too bad, but seeing as NY aren't getting any call ups, it sucks for us.

Ouch up to 5 players gone

    Twellman replaced by Noonan/Cristman
    Ralston replaced by Thompson
    Parkhurst replaced by Franchino???
John (T&T) - bench spot by Leonard???
Igwe - Reserve spot by Lalas...

My guess is Parkhurst will be replaced by Franchino as I assume John will called up by T&T. Where Franchino takes the left and Riley moving to the middle. The other potential is Leonard, especially if Franchino has to move to the DM for any reason.

As much as you might be right, I think the fortunate thing for us is that we've got a bye week during the tournament, so our guys are only going to miss three games. And one is RSL. The other two are Crew and TFC. I'd like to think we can win all three without the three guys...

I'm not so worried on the defensive side of the ball (since we still have Reis for the time being and as you said, we did OK w/o Parky), but I'm not sure where our goals are going to come from. Part of that is because our top goalscorer will be gone, but so will our top assist man (who, as of late, seems to be the only player in our midfield who can establish possession and consistently create scoring opportunities). So I'm expecting a lot of low-scoring affairs over the next few weeks, which could be bad for us because I don't know if we'll have the capabilities to come back if we are in a hole early in the game.

I think it is important for SN to give some more opportunities for the rookies, particularly Oka, over the next few weeks.

It will be scary to see how we do when Matty leaves for the Copa, though.

Guzan is only there for injury replacement. And I would bet that Reis will be going to Copa America, so Bradley is saving his trump card for then - the only thing that changes is if he writes off Reis, Cannon, and Hartman as too "old" and goes a youth movement for GK.

The question is if Parkhurst, Twellman and Ralston also go to Copa as well.

Parkhurst may only get games in Gold Cup if injury/cards to Onyewu, Boca, Conrad so this may be about getting some camp experience prior to the Copa.

Ralston may/may not get into games depending on how they go. So, he may still be a candidate for Copa.

And Twellman may be planned for both tournaments.

So although Copa is meant to be our "B" squad, Bradley could very well take 4 of our "A" squad for that tournament.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Altidore called up for the CA.

I'd be, as I believe that squad will be mostly comprised of our European-based players. That being said, I can see him called up for the Gold Cup in the event someone gets hurt.

RSL should be a win. The Crew will be without Haydude who has been a real threat to the Revs. I wonder how may TFC players will be in the Tourney for Canada and other nations?
