    ...Marko Perovic.

I'm done. Straw that broke the camel's back.

Perovic might be getting declined because the team doesn't want to carry a relatively expensive injured player. I can't quibble with that logic, much as I like what Perovic brings to the field when he plays.

I understand that he is coming from an ACL injury and would be playing on turf. He's only 27, though, and he can still come back from this injury. He makes $190,000 and was undeniably good for this team. I don't think it would have been dangerous to hold onto him for at least one more year. I really am not a fan of this move at all. If he were 33, I could understand the logic.

I don't get the language here. Does this mean they have been cut/waived?

Oboy! Just think of all the cap space that clears! All we need to do is trust their judgment that the next players they sign with all this money are going to be really good...

This time for sure they'll get it right!

No sense keeping any players with skill.
Then again, maybe Marko asked out. Who would want to stay here?

Perovic is injured so he cannot be cut. Declining his option would imply that, if his contract is over at the end of the season, he's gone.

To put his salary into perspective, Perovic is the seventh highest-earner with guaranteed compensation of $190,000. In order from highest to lowest, Shalrie Joseph, Benny Feilhaber, Rajko Lekic, Ilija Stolica, Ousmane Dabo, and Zach Schilawski all earn more than Perovic.

    [EDIT] Per Kyle McCarthy:

Perovic in short: option due at the end of June - he asked #revs and the league to not exercise his option - move is not injury related.

I will say that I always felt like he wasn't comfortable and or happy here. He was always very timid in interviews cause of his English, never seemed to get into some of the antics from Soares, and I'm sure the injury didn't help his cause either.

    Hate to say it...

But, looks pretty obvious that a DP is imminent!

This team is like a bungee chord!!

We'll bring Khano back for a third go-around before we sign a DP.

At least there would be some entertainment, not to mention the threat of a stray "shot-cross" 10 to 20 rows in the stands would keep the supporters awake.

"Why am I holding up this scarf and looking at this woman? Why is the team more concerned with making mascot videos than signing some help? Why doesn't anybody know this team is even out here? I'm going home, thanks."

Yes, but these days there's little risk khano will actually hit anything but an empty seat. So that's good.

i have a gut feeling that Benny won't be in a Revs Jersey by the start of 2012 (disregard if his contract was only 1 year) but i think he'll be traded if not this season... SuperDraft '12

Why would he be? Who would really want to play here? American (or drafted players) are forced to play here through convoluted league rules. Other than that, is it really any wonder we can't get good international players here?

The level of negativity among the posters on this Board has risen to an all time high. It's clear that people are really enjoying themselves feeling victimized by all things associated with the Rev organization and throwing smack at anything that suggests that management understands the teams problems and is committed to finding solutions. Sure makes coming to these threads for player news and discussions about soccer a really enjoyable experience.

A post about other posts, really? And with a rolleyes at the end?

If your complaint about the tenor of the discussion is it needs to be elevated, then elevate it instead of opening a metagriping wormhole.

Surely you have some thoughts actually related to Perovic and Stolica.

Rolled on the floor literally laughing my ass off. What a wonderful example of total denial.

The level of negative information about this team has risen to an all time high specifically because management is incapable of doing its job. Until they invent negative places or adopt relegation it doesn't get much worse than this.
