Early in the second half, and it hasn't been a good game so far. 1-0 to the bad guys. Twellman and Smith started the game on the bench, but Smith came on at the half, and Twellman in the 56th.

57th - Ouch. Ralston pings the post on a 20 yard volley. So close.

61st - Point blank save by Burpo on a Twellman header off a Smith cross. That's the third very good cross from Smith in the 2nd half. Maybe the benching woke him up.

Nope. The Revs packaged several games together as part of a "Beckham Package". Perhaps this is one of those?

66th - Smith torches the right back for the second time in the last five minutes. Sadly, both times his cross afterwards was lacking.

69th - Heaps fouls just outside the arc. Dangerous free kick coming up from about 22 yards.

70th - FK right at Reis, who catches it easily.

71st - Good work from Ralston and Thompson, result in a difficult volley attempt by Noonan, who skies it over everything.

for the beckham game... do you think they will open up the entire lower bowl and have people sitting on both sides?

I don't think so. Last I read, the plan was to limit ticket sales to 30,000, so I'm guessing they will just open up half the stadium.

80th - Revs win a corner. They've been pushing hard on the Chivas bunker for the last several minutes, but with no luck, so far.

83rd - Smith beats his man and sends in a cross to the far post. Noonan's point blank shot is right at Burpo.

84th - Smith wins a corner. Revs can't get a shot off, but win another corner. This one is handled by Burpo.

85th - Thompson splits two defenders, but his pass is a bit difficult for Noonan to handle. (Replay shows the Chivas defender with a handful of Noonan's jersey, which might explain it). Joseph picks up the loose ball but shoots wide.

87th - Chivas wins a corner kick after ref misses a handball by them. Galindo requires a stretcher to get off the field because he's cramping up. Not that he's time wasting. ;)

91st - Noonan wins a corner. Ralston delivers to far post. Revs can't get a shot off, but control it, pass it around, Noonan heads across the goal to two onrushing Revs. Heaps tries the volley but gets tangled up with Dorman and the shot goes over the goal.

    Full Time - 1:1

Disappointing result. Hopefully the Parkhurst at DM experiment is over. He looked distinctly uncomfortable in the role and it was his turnover that led to the corner that Chivas scored on. Heaps had another tough game - fell down on the corner, allowing a free header for the goal. Joseph was huge, though. Couldn't even tell he was hurt.

    Re: Revs/Chivas In-Game Thread - 7/7/2007

    This was the starting lineup:

    Code:
                 Reis
       Heaps - Riley - John
        Parkhurst - Joseph
    Thompson Ralston
                 Dorman
       Cristman - Noonan

After Parkhurst had a lot of trouble with the ball at his feet, he moved a bit in front of Joseph, who became the primary outlet option for the defense. Ralston and Thompson flipped sides about halfway through the half.

At halftime, Smith came in for John, and about half the team switch positions. Riley went to the left, Parkhurst to central defense, Thompson back to the right, Ralston to a-mid and Dorman to holding mid, and the team started playing much better. Around the 60th, Twellman came in for Cristman in a straight swap.
