New England Revolution v. San Jose Earthquakes to Kick Off at 4:00 p.m. Boston Breakers v. San Diego Spirit Slated for 6:30 p.m. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution has scheduled a doubleheader event with the Boston Breakers on Saturday, May 3 at Gillette Stadium. The defending MLS Eastern Conference Champion Revolution takes on the San Jose Earthquakes at 4 p.m., followed by a WUSA match between the Boston Breakers and the San Diego Spirit at 6:30 p.m. "Once again, we are delighted to be part of a great event at Gillette Stadium and look forward to an entertaining day of soccer," Breakers President and General Manager Joe Cummings said. Last year, the two teams played the first MLS/WUSA doubleheader in New England history on June 1, 2002 and drew 21,539 fans. The Breakers opened the day with a match against the Washington Freedom and the Revolution followed with a game against the Earthquakes. "Soccer doubleheaders are probably the best family value in professional sports and have historically been a great draw in Foxborough," Revolution Chief Operating Officer Lou Imbriano said. "We have created a great soccer atmosphere for families at Gillette Stadium. One notable area is Soccer Celebration, an interactive soccer theme park, which is free to kids of all ages two hours prior to kickoff." The event comes as a result of a growing relationship between the two major soccer organizations in New England.
