"Come on, what heights we'll hit! On with the show, this is it!"

Jesse Marsch has been added to the Fire casualty list. Logan Pause is doubtful. Rat, Selolwane, and CJB are out also. A good opportunity for Leo and Danny to win some respect.

Anyone care to guess what Chicago's starting line-up will look like?

    Answering my own question

From MLS.net: "They concluded their preseason with a 1-0 victory against Colorado Rapids in Baton Rouge, Carlos Bocanegra scoring the game's only goal in the 50th minute.

Sarachan put out the following team: Zach Thornton - Carlos Bocanegra (69: Kelly Gray), Jim Curtin, C.J. Brown - Orlando Perez (82: Ryan Futagaki), Chris Armas, Jesse Marsch (77: Craig Capano), Evan Whitfield, DaMarcus Beasley (77: Ante Razov), Andy Williams (67: Justin Mapp) – Nate Jaqua (67: Damani Ralph)."

Good karma on that PK, guys.

Hey, did JMM forget how to speak English? :) That interview at halftime looked overdubbed at points, like one of those translated-into-English interviews on Futbol Mundial.

Hernandez earns free kick 25 yards out. Right side.
Franchino on net - save Beast. Corner kick - chicago clears.

    1:1 final

I beg to differ. The Heaps handball is the worst call in history. Ya think Kevin Terry was born in Chicago? The guy needs to have his children eaten... :)

    Thanks for the Help JW

  18. From Section 8 this looked like a game that neither team deserved a point from. I thought the JMM red was harsh but couldn't get much agreement from the rest of Section 8 (surprise!). If you have to play a man down, Naperville is the place and this FIRE side is the team. Hopefully, both sides will have more to offer as the season heats up.

I think the handball call was a bit of a make up for two other no calls in the box. The red card was a surprise but the ref made no hesitation so he must have seen it that way.

I'm glad we got the tie. I would have had trouble dealing with a loss under those circumstances. That was an ugly game, with ugly goals, ugly field, choppy play, and the ref....

Before anything else is said, how 'bout that Rusty? This may have been the best game I've ever seen him play. He didn't lose a single ball in the air all night. Also noteworthy was Brown(!), with workman-like performances from the defence overall, the wings, and the forwards. Hernandez and Cullen seemed to have more than their share of klunky touches, and we never seemed to develop attacks quickly out of the center. It was good to see JMM and Noonan, however briefly.

Chicago has a lot of talent, but they are not all on the same page yet. Beasley is in is prime and is a complete handful.

I can't really take any more from that game. I'm just glad no one was hurt.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
Well-deserved point for NE. Chi misses Razov. Brown is an excellent goalie if he can stay healthy. Twellman was dead on his feet at the end.

FYI. The referee was Terry Vaughn.

A masterful performance by Mr. Vaughn. Firm calls. 100% conviction. No nonsense.

And no semblance of reality. :(

I've now seen seven of the MLS teams play this season, and I'm happy to say the Revs are as good as any of them, and better than almost all. Columbus was impressive in its opener, but I'm told they didn't look good against the Metros. LA was unimpresive in two games, Dallas was dull, KC had a little spark, DC will battle the Metros for last place in the East, and Chi will get better when they get to know each other.

So far, I think Beasley has been the most dangerous offensive player I've seen.

-The penalty kick. Since when does the ball hitting the chin count as a hand ball? Even if the reff didn't have a good view, how could it be called intentional?
-The red card. It was the offensive third of the field. Moore slide in (not from the side, or behind). He barely missed the ball and Justin Mapp wasn't quick enough to jump over his legs. Should he have even gotten a card for this? Especially a red?

    Thanks

Thanks for the MLS link. I filled in my comments. That red card was just totally atrocious and uncalled for.

Thanks for making JoeMax miss the season opener for no apparent reason Terry. Can't wait to see you at Gillette ;).

Oh wait, I forgot, I don't go to games. LOL
