The current Rev theme song. I don't like it. I can't speak for all y'all (I've never been to Texas, BTW), but I think we should come up with our own bits that reflect this season or the team in general. My pick: Talking 'Bout a Revolution - Tracy Chapman http://www.about-tracy-chapman.net/debutalbum_lyrics.htm Don't ya know? They're talkin'bout a revolution. Sounds like a whisper. Don't ya know? They're talkin'bout a revolution. Sounds like a whisper. While they're standing at the welfare lines Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation Wasting time in the unemployment lines Sitting around waiting for a promotion. Poor people gonna rise up And take their share. Poor people gonna rise up And take what's theirs. Don't you know You better run, run, run... Oh, I said you better run, run, run... Finally the tables are starting to turn. Talkin'bout a revolution. Any suggestions from you guys? Be creative! Relate your choice to the team. Mine's rather obvious. Not only does it have the team name in there, the line "finally the tables are starting to turn" is pretty true, at least for these last two years. What do you guys think?
"Poor people gonna rise up and take what's theirs..." Yer damn right! "Gonna rise up," walk over to the McDonald's being the North Goal, grab that large fries and yell to the Krafts "YOU AIN'T GONNA GIT MA $2.50 no more!" Nice song, but doesn't do it for me. I'm thinking something from the Dropkick Murphys or Tommy and the Terrors would be appropriate... well, not any less appropriate than Tracy Chapman ;-) The Magpie
i agree, the song isnt upbeat enough. We need a song that is kicking so we can get excited for the revs, not relaxed. By the way, what is our theme song. I know they play Breathe from Seven Channels when the revs come out.
I like when they use the 8Mile song. That bit they play is so much better than the current commercials it's not even funny. No, mine's not upbeat enough, but the lyrics are perfect!
I agree with The Magpie, something by Dropkick Murphys would be perfect, and they already made one for the Bruins ("Time to Go") which is pretty sweet, so why not one for their next favorite local sports team? Original lyrics: Go! Go! Black and Gold! Old-time hockey, bar the door Clear the track it's all-out war Light the lamp, throw a hit. Black and Gold never quit. The barn is full, our team's in town So put 'em up boys, knock 'em down. Drop the puck, it's time to go! Bust outta work, it's quarter-past five Time to round up the gang and take the Red to the Orange Line Head for the street and the Causeway crowd You can feel it in the air, when the team's in town. Rancourt's ready, it's time to take to the ice So tie down the jersey 'cause it could get ugly tonight Top corner, five hole, off the post and in On a quest for the cup, and we're ready to win. My Revs lyrics: Go! Go! Super Revs! New school soccer, open the door Paint over those football lines, like we know you can Score a gooool, get a caaard. Revolution never quit. The Razor's full, our team's in town So put 'em up Joey, knock 'em down. Kick that enlarged golf ball, it's time to go! Bust outta work, it's quarter-past five Time to round up the gang and take the hundred dollar taxi ride Head for the ATM, withdraw all you've got You're heading to Gillete, what else did you expect! Twellman's ready, it's time to take to the pitch So tie down Rusty 'cause it could get ugly tonight Top corner, Adin saves, Noonan shoots off the post and in On a quest for the cup, and we're ready to win.
I love that montage of the Rev players to the Eminem song (from the 8Mile Soundtrack). Really gets you going and excited to see some supreme Rev action. The Tracy Chapman song was used at the old stadium I believe. Not sure it was the "official" song, but it did get play time. I find it pleasant, but not exciting. "Get your kicks ..." must never be played except on throwback night, when we wear uniforms from our distant past. I did an iTunes search for Revolution. There are many, many songs.
The Tracey Chapman song was played (along with "Closing Time" I believe) only when the team lost... sort of mellowing out the crowd as they left the stadium disgruntled. For that reason alone I wouldn't want to instate it as our "official" song. Everytime I hear it on the radio, I make the connection and get depressed. I agree with others on this board about the Eminem montage -- it's fantastic. The added bonus is that the song is played pretty often on the radio still and always gets me thinking about the team. (Just a note: the new montage is MUCH better than the Pink "Get The Party Started" intro video last season)
I remember hearing Talking 'Bout a Revolution - Tracy Chapman in some of their radio commercials. I think they used it with the Get Your Kicks Revolution song. Isnt' there a Beatles song Revolution? Maybe I'm wrong...
you aint gonna make it with anyone anyhow.... now not a great theme song, but i'd love to be singing 'we are the champions...' in a few weeks...
Some of these have been mentioned, some haven't: The Clash, Revolution Rock Queensryche, Revolution Calling The Beatles, Revolution T-Rex, Children of the Revolution (also an excelent cover by the Violent Femmes) Ween, Shot Heard Round the World (a cover of the School House Rock song. Bonus here, has the words "Revolution" and "Minutemen" several times, but no "Tea Men") Tracy Chapman, Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution I was thinking of burning a CD that I could take to LA with these songs on it. I could also include other songs about Boston. Modern Lovers, Roadrunner The Standells, Dirty Water A New England, Kirsty MacColl (Okay...not about New England. Better than the Billy Bragg version, and he admits it) What d'yall think? Ted.
The Lo Fidelidy AllStars... That BattleFlag / PidgeonHead song they do. 'Got a revolution behind my eyes We got to get up and organize' ... though I honestly dunno what the rest of the song is about... Kevin D.
Dropkick Murphies I'd LOVE to see a Dropkick Murphies song, just like the one they wrote for the Bruins (and mentioned in an earlier post). Didn't I read somewhere (Midnight Riders Website?) that the Murphs, or at least one of the members, sometimes frequents Revs game? If so, perhaps we can persuade them to write a song for the Revs. If anybody knows these guys (personally), put a bug in their ears... if they produced a kickbutt Revs song they'd instantly be, for as long as the Revs exist, heros among us. Dropkick Murphies ROCK! You would not be disappointed.
i don't know about it being a revs' song...but, that 8mile montage gives me goosebumps everytime they run it. really ticks me off when they forget to start it early enough to let it run all the way thru. i wish they use it for the o.t. instead of that beaten rag they use now. o.t. is really the time when "one shot" is going to be the diff. i agree about the d.m. stuff (although i can't say i've heard any of the songs)....but dammit, if for no other reason than stevie being on the sideline....they need some bagpiping over the p.a!!!
This is the Metrostars new playoff song. Like we needed another reason to laugh at the metros. http://www.metrostars.com/audio/MPF_METALMIKE.mp3
Hey, I kinda liked it, the lyrics are catchy... "What the F....Metros suck!" Maybe the Fort should learn it
I can't believe you all missed an obvious Revolution song... VIVA LA REVOLUTION by the ADICTS. That's my official theme song for the team... There's handclapping and sing along...how could you go wrong? BTW, Tommy and the Terrors have a song called Lot 11 on their 13 the Hard Way album (great album).
