His senior club career stats according to Wikipedia. 12 goals in total: 2010–2014Ajax1(0) 2011–2012→ RKC Waalwijk (loan)29(6) 2012–2013→ Heracles Almelo (loan)30(3) 2013→ Jong Ajax6(1) 2014→ NEC (loan)7(2) Also, a short highlight video of the player:
The Revs made two signings in two days that the rest of the league has been making for years? What is happening here?
While this guy's goal scoring record hasn't exactly set the world on fire, he at least looks/sounds like a better version of Imbongo. Age is right.... Lots of size.... seems to have a bit of pace. Coupled with the signing of JJ, color me extremely optimistic. How long of a deal did Castillion get?
Potentially big signing. Once huge Ajax prospect RT @InsideMLS New England has signed Dutch forward Geoffrey Castillion on a free transfer.— Leander “same handle *elsewhere*” Schaerlaeckens (@LeanderAlphabet) August 25, 2014 hmmm....
According to this article he was poised to move to Panathinaikos last summer but they did not meet his wage demands. "Castillion was originally going to draw an annual salary of 130,000 euros, but Wednesday he would prefer to have asked for 260,000 euros....The board of the superpower was reportedly beaten speechless after hearing the new demands of Castillion."
Well, we've stocked up on strikers the last week or so with Akpan, Taylor and now Castillion. Here's hoping this kid finds his game here.
I like his size and his background with the Ajax academy. Can't tell anything from a highlight tape, but I would expect someone from there to have good skills and some creativity. Whether he (or any of the new forwards) make an impact this year is a big TBD, but it's nice to see that several players will be competing to be in the squad. If one or two send our current strikers to the bench, that's a good thing. I'm also surprised at how much simultaneous activity seems to be going on at Revs Central. I didn't think Burns would be able to handle more than one negotiation per season.
I can't stand Leander, but he's got the best Eredivisie knowledge of those I follow on twitter; I'll take his word for it. Seems like a guy with huge potential who might not have found the minutes/right team to come good as of yet. Not sure how much he'll be able to contribute immediately though, learning a new league/culture with no previous chemistry.
Mullins went from starting to #(?) on the depth chart. He's wondering a few things right now as well.
All along... is Burns the Cobra of MLS deals? Sway... wait... sway... stare at you (the Transfer Window) blankly... waiting... there's the moment... the window is closed and it seems like nothing will happen... STRIKE! Its fun, but ultimately doesn't matter if the team still finds ways to suck. I hope they don't, but at least it'll be good to watch with some HOPE restored.
Castillion is on the level of Akpan. Which is to say he's absolute shit. His scoring record speaks for itself.
You've posted two/three times already that you don't like this signing. Just curious (no sarcasm) have you actually seen him play?
Since I didn't have a clue who these guys were (except Akpan from years back), I turned to FIFA14 for the straight scoop : Castillion: http://sofifa.com/player/149242-geoffrey-castillion?v=14w&hl=en-GB Akpan: http://sofifa.com/player/147979-andre-akpan?v=14&hl=en-GB Taylor didn't even have a FIFA14 profile, but here's FIFA13: http://sofifa.com/player/148561-tony-taylor?v=fifa13&hl=en-GB It looks like Castillion has the most speed, skill and best shot, but has a low work rate and is injury prone. Not liking those last two.
I don't need to. His stats speak for themselves. When was the last time the Revs bought (not loaned) a striker that panned out for us?
Lots of forwards on this squad now. Castillon, Mullins, Davies, Akpan, and Imbongo all for one spot on the field. Clearly, Imbongo's days are numbered and Mullins looks like a candidate for Rochester now. Akpan probably won't be here for long either at this point.
