I love the scene where 'Rivaldo' is posing with an Oscar just before they show 'Ronaldo' with the world cup...
Well, I suppose the review of the year should involve Brazil since it was their year. It was the year of a WC...the first WC of the millenium in which we saw 3 swashbuckling centrehalves play like attacking midfielders and the 2 nations with the best WC record met for the first time and established who are the top Honchos after a century of football... also is it a coincedence that the 2 most powerful men in football happen to be Blatter (German) and De Havelange (Brazillian)...ummmmmmm. From no hopers to 5x champions, back to back to back WC finals must surely have buried the perennial " suspect defence and tactically naive" argument levelled at every Brazillian national team. Brazillian players have caused a stir this year Ronaldo, R.Carlos, Robinho, Diego, Kaka. As well as Brazillain Clubs - Santos ...yep, it's been Jim Dandy this year for Brasilieros. Is this the year that the Azzuri realise that, though it's as Italian as Pasta, the catenaccio is dead...to win a major competition again it must be modernised - if Italy ever put the same emphasis on offense we in big troooouble.
ROM2, uhm ... you didn't happen to actually see the above clip by any chance, did you? Thanks for this Fr Ted. Very, very funny!
No...have I missed something? I know this thread didn't seem to be a serious Review thread but I couldn't be bothered to start a new one!
ROM2 -- If your computer will allow you, click on the link in Fr. Ted's original post and watch the movie. It's a recap of the year's highlights re-enacted by a group of very funny actors and shot on perhaps a $10 budget. Very clever stuff! -- Happy New Year, btw.
