"BIG' WINNERS Last night, the Big Brothers of Massachusetts Bay named Scott Ullrich of Jamaica Plain the 2003 Big Brother of the Year. The Honorary Big Brothers of the Year were Al Larkin of The Boston Globe and Dan Salera of FleetBoston Financial. Ullrich, 42, and his Little Brother, Joey, a 9-year-old living in Jamaica Plain, see each other weekly. They got to know each other on walks through the Arboretum and during sports and other activities. Ullrich was nominated for the award by Joey and his social worker. The award was presented by Big Brothers executive director John B. Pearson before a crowd of more than 500 that included New England Patriots tackle Matt Light; former Red Sox players Jim Rice, Bill Lee, and Rico Petrocelli; former Boston Bruins players Ken Hodge and Gord Kluzak; Revolution players Jay Heaps and Taylor Twellman; Bimbo Coles of the Celts, and Celts legend Cedric Maxwell."
