    Whoa!

From FDA - "... Jason Moore, a left-side midfielder, is training with the Revolution this week. Moore played for the Colorado Rapids last season ... Zimbabwean midfielder Johannes Ngodzo is expected to arrive next week."

From Gus - "Former Colorado and MetroStars midfielder Jason Moore is training with the Revolution. He could sign within a week."

This was the only real news in either article. Am I right in remembering Moore as a sort of left-footed Cloutier? Does this mean Ngodzo is going to stick? Do we want either? Can we afford both? What about Kelvin Sebwe? Can anyone add anything to these little snippets from the major papers?

Right now we have one SI slot and one senior roster spot. That means that if they sign Moore and look at a SI someone has to go. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of fat on the roster. If it's true that Noonan is pushing Kamler for playing time on the left then I'd probably put Griffiths as first to go.

I think this statement is fascinating. SN made the statement at meet the Coach that he had an excellent player on trile (Moore?) but he wasn't what he was looking for. It's obvious that he will be giving tryouts to the two Liberians. Could he be looking at taking one or both (they most likely are not hig priced) and cutting Griffith and picking up Moore?
    Lots of possible combinations.

I think the trialist Nicol complimented may have been Uribe - he said at the time that he was a good player, but didn't have the offensive bent that he was looking for.

    Ngodzo is from Zimbabwe.

I don't think Nicol is the type to shake things up too much on the eve of the season, although if one of the left mids wasn't working hard, or they needed to create more cap space, swapping J. Moore with Griffiths, for instance, would probably get them some more room to sign one of the other trialists. A LOT of ifs though...

Note that there is a misprint in Martins' piece:

"In 16 starts, Sommer had a 9-6-1 record with 1.23 goals-against average and 20 goals conceded."

He surely means Brown. Sommer's GAA was almost double that, with a losing record.

    Re: Whoa!

You know why else this statement is fascinating? Jason Moore has never played for the MetroStars.

Not that I've got room to complain about screw ups after the Johannes Ndodzo goof last night.

A reliable source tells me Jason Moore will sign with the Revs today. Former teams: DC United, Colorado,
Chicago. Word has it he is rapidly regaining the form that made him a promising young player that left UVA for the MLS. SN possibly & hopefully has found a "diamond in the rough". It will be interseting to follow J Moore's progress.

    How old is he?

And if JMM plays with Jason, can Joe-Max have "JMM" on the back of his jersey?

Or JMM can go back to the Joe Max on his back that he had in '96...

JMM will have Joe-Max on his kit.

If we sign Jason Moore will we still try to sign the AMF if one works out on trile? Who will we cut? Griffith?

One "[j]moore" to go! There's another one in MLS, isn't there?

Can anyone provide a background for the latest jmoore?

    A few things stand out:

    - #1 overall draft pick!

    - Traded for a #1 pick.

    - Sure gets fouled a lot (3rd in MLS in 2001, set the MLS record in 2000!). You'd think that would mean that he's pretty dangerous ...

The 3rd jmoore in MLS is Jeff, of the In Vitro Stars.

Also, a 4th could be coming down the line. Jason's brother Justin, a promising defender, was Dimelon Westfield's teammate at Clemson last fall.

I have a vague recollection of him being considered the "Next Claudio Reyna" when he was in high school, and was looking to go directly overseas, then had a bad injury and went to UVA instead. Or am I thinking of somebody else.?

I'm optimisitc to have JMoore on the team (JMoore sounds good when refering to him, party so it doesnt cause confusion with JMM). He wasnt getting consistent time as a rookie with DC, had a bad spell in Colorado, and showed some positive signs here and there in Chicago. Maybe this is his big chance with the Revs. He's versitile basically anywhere in the midfield, and along with Noonan, could push Kamler for the left mid spot. I'm hoping that, if he does sign, he'll show us why he was really the #1 pick four years ago and why some had claimed him to be the next Reyna.

I think SN has a good nose for talent. If he's signed I'm willing to bet he will be a real contributer.

I wonder if there is a story as to why he didn't stick with DCU, CRapids or Fire. It sure would be great if he really just needs the right coach and system.

Of course this all could be bum information and he will not be signed.
