A certain sign of the approaching season is when the Sunday papers actually carry Rev news. Too often I open up the Globe of a Sunday AM(in my case) to find everything from gorilla ball to golf, plus snowmobiling and grade school hockey but no Revs. Lets hope the current spate of coverage continues.

We know it's wet, that folks are having tummy troubles and that the new lads are settling in. Looks like Dempsey, Baker and Vercollone are adding to a degree of depth that is quite remarkable by league standards.

    Bodes well for the season.

SN continues to show that he has a great nose for talent. The Revs have really done well in getting quality additions to the team. I sure like how much flexability we seem to have on this roster and how much our new players bring to the table. I know a lot of us scream and moan when the Revs miss out on drafting the "wonderkind" that get a lot of hype before and during the draft but SN seems to be able to find lower profile bodies that are ready for prime time. With MLS small rosters, WCQ this year and the inevitable injuries and suspensions that go with the schedule, depth is critical. For the first year in our history I think it's safe to say the Revs are going into the season with a high quality, balanced and deep roster. Well done Stevie.

    Pat's first cap!

I thought we could add that Noonan got his first cap for the Nats last night vs. Haiti.

He came in for Ralston in the 75th minute.

None of the game reports mentioned either of them. If I were to really stretch I would note that Bruce said the team played better over the final 15 minutes. Maybe Noonan played a part in that.

Pierce's surgery sounds nasty. You don't really need your adductor muscle? Is that a common way to treat recurring injury? I never heard of it but I'm glad he's recovered well.

Twellman reminds me of one of those grade school kids who catches every virus and bug that comes around. Seems like he always gets sick at the wrong time....he hasn't had the best of luck with his health between sickness and injury in the past year. Let's hope the season is a good one for him!

Glad to hear Dempsey is turning out so well. 20 more days and counting.

    Four slots left in RevMFLS:

    http://www.mfls.com/

    Division: RevMFLS
    Password: soopah

    http://martnet.com/~jgoodwin/revmfls/

Last year we had 49 participants, I'd like to fill our 50 slots, and see if we can get a second expansion of teams.

RevMFLS participates fully in the MFLS Champions' League (qualifying by the first half of the MFLS league season) and in the MFLS Cup Winners' Cup (qualifying through the RevMFLS Cup).

We also have two additional cups that are reserved for RevMFLS teams:

The RevMFLS Supporters' Cup which runs during the second half of the season; and,
the RevMFLS Loyalty Cup, which runs all year giving players the opportunity to win cool swag just by picking the best Revolution players each week and having them on their fantasy team.

Hopefully this can be the last time I have to whine about RevMFLS in the news thread :D

    From the Martins article:

"I had the left adductor that runs all the way down the inside of your leg to your pelvis snipped out,'' Pierce said. Your body doesn't really need it and if I had known that I would have had the procedure done years ago."

The adductors are not one muscle, but a set of muscles. Their function is pulling the leg to the midline; because they work in balance with the abductors, which lift the leg sideways away from the midline, they are critical for equilibrium. Steven Hawking has done all right without his, but Rusty would not do well without any adductors.
