I know they're trying to get a few women like this to go around and advertise the team a bit. Adult marketing indeed.
uh.... why? Marketing to adults (albeit predominantly males in this case) is much better than the old marketing (i.e. nothing).
If they're responsible for going through the stands, the half-time promotions, and maybe some away viewings, it will be cool. If they're cheerleaders, idea blows.
I think that it's going to be a bunch of hot chick going to bars, away viewings, etc. to promote the team and give away free crap, which would be great.
For the amount of money they are sinking into this, they could have done something with a shred of class.
Make it a case of Sam Adams and we got a competition on our hands. Let's go over this a bit. People on this board want the Revs to market towards adults. Who are the majority of those saying it? Males 18-34. What will make a male age 18-34 buy something? Hot women. No brainer if you ask me.
So... what's the over/under on the amount of time before photos of one of the "Rev Girls" scrawling anti-Semitic grafitti on some drunken, passed-out numbnut show up on a Myspace page?
It's interesting in that they appear to be prepared to spend a good amount of money (although obviously not as much as DC) on a number 10.
I do wonder what the potential trade looked like. With SJ, JL, Ralston, Videira, and Phelan, our central midfield was pretty crowded. Perhaps one of that group was slated to go the other way? We'll never know.
100% agree 1000% agree You're on mike, but I have to agree with steve on this one. Good beer or nothing
True, although I have to think that if Gomez had come to New England Ralston would have shifted out wide again, where we're a little more threadbare.
We better start doing a heck of a lot more the try to sign somebody or this season will be a total joke
OMG you mean Burns doesn't always tell the truth?!! What was that about the McBride allocation, Mr Burns?
How many times have other MLS teams been quoted as saying, "The [insert team name] attempted to acquire [insert player and credentials] from [you get the idea] before they traded him to the New England Revolution earlier this week...?" I can't remember one, but then I'm in the negativity pool. Maybe the positives can remember times. If so, when and for who?
The closest thing I can remember to a Rev steal in a trade was getting Mauricio Wright for Jeff Baicher and a box of Cracker Jacks. Anyone who mentions Leo Alvarez gets to wear the unwashed Slyde suit after a mid-summer Gold Cup triple-header.
Thank you. Both of those seem like QUITE some time ago. I suppose maybe we'll hear that someone else tried real hard to get Albright but they lost him to us. If so, it would be the first I've heard of it.
