    And from CyberSoccerNews:

For an incident which prompted his red card during stoppage time of the Fire's 2-0 loss at Gillette Stadium quarterfinal Game Three in Foxboro on October 2, the MLS Disciplinary Committee fined and suspended Chicago Fire forward Ante Razov an additional $2,500 and two-game suspension, to be added to the standard $250 fine and one-game suspension for all red cards.

    One cool thing:

The Revs are the top story in the on-line herald sports section!

... note that Gus says that Pirece reinjured his groin, while everyone else is saying "muscle cramp"... huge difference there...

Man, some real gaps in the information. Would be nice if someone could shed some light on:

    a) Twellman's injury status
    b) Hernandez' cuation status
    c) Pierce's injury status

Looking forward to Emilyn Lewis' piece on CyberSoccerNews in the hope of getting some info...

    Also from Martin's article:
Boy that sucks for Columbus. The kid's a great player.

I checked out the Crew's website, curious as to their take on the Heaps red card. However, this line made me laugh:

[a] TnT's going for a MRI. More precautionary than anything else. Doesn't appear to be serious. As Bill Belichick would say, "It'll be a game time decision." [Danizinho's Take: Like a hooker at a convention, he'll be there when the fur starts to fly].

Hernandez has 12 caution points. He'll play Saturday.

Same as TnT, but without the MRI. Rusty doesn't have an injury, unless you classify severe cramps as an injury in the classic sense of the word. If it were anyone else I'd suggest Mydol, but Rusty's Rusty [Dude's ram tough].

You da MAN Dan! Thanks for the much-needed info.

I just hope these guys can stay focused and sharp for Saturday, because it's going to be battle. Anyone who's follwed this Crew team over the last 10 games knows they're not going to roll over. On August 14th the crew pulled out an unlikely 3-2 win over LA (albeit, at home) with McBride out and in a similar situation.

The guys in red-white-and blue need to play their game, to play within themselves, and to use their heads.

BTW, anyone know Robert Warzycha's status (that weasel scares the crap out of me)?

    AP story

When my sister was a teen-ager, she loved to write. She wanted to be a journalist, but we talked her out of it.

When the teacher would give an asigned subject for the kids to write, she would write 3 or four essays about the same subject. She would give the extras to her buddies, and sometimes the girls would get a higher grade.

She would do well here writing for AP. The REVs victory is first page(Sports Section) in the New Bedford's "The Standard-Times" and the Fall River's "The Herald News". Both papers picked up the AP story, which has the same byline, but are not identical.

    Interesting.

    Re: Strong little finger

Anyone notice the caption here read "New England's Freddy Garcia goes
for the ball last night. (AP)"?

    Moacir,
AP usually files one story right after the final whistle. Then, if it's warranted, the same writer will add in quotes and other details to a later edition, known as an "optional" game story. That's why two different stories by the same writer might appear on the same day.
