I am turning 40 in August of 2016 and plan on joining the local over 40 soccer team. I played when I was younger (5yrs old- til 20) and still have good soccer skills. I played up front as a striker but haven't played a full game in over 15 years. I understand that I MUST stop my smoking habit, obviously, but as far as training goes, what do you guys suggest?

ANY info or help would be much appreciated.
I am 6'1 180lbs and in average shape (no running, but occassionally lift weights and play sports)

    Thanks Again
    Cheers

    Hello,

I´am doing same thing, only two year break for me. Age 40 and not smoking :) My friend´s are playing and they smoke, so you can smoke if you like to. Cancer is bad, but everybody won´t get one.
Running is the thing for me. Week a go I was playing first game in two years and wow, I realize I can´t run miles anymore. My thing in soccer was running. Now I can´t run, have to learn some new tricks ;)

Best thing is playing in your own level.

Good luck to you ! Do it, it´s so fun !!!
