The greatest drummer in the world is an afterthought when he plays with a star level lead singer and guitarist. Even if he's amazing. Not gonna talk bassist because that's like a defensive midfielder out there playing single notes that carry the band and folks are saying dude only tackles and plays the ball sideways. Haha.
Very true. It makes me wonder about Cannavaro in 2006. Like till today I don't understand that decision and random shift in voting. My theory is it was the last of the Serie A power in lobbying as Juve were putting in work before their relegation. Lobbying is so key, I think this is why Henry and Raul lost to Nedved and Sheva. Great players but I'm sorry they never outclipsed the work of those two in their respective stellar seasons. R9 won with a mid Barca and PSV in the 90s before the whole lobbying thing came into play.
Would've been happy with either or. The club promoted Vini but given Rodri was even in the conversation Dani should have won it based on the criteria Rodri won it for
At this point you have to wonder about his luck and whether we’ll ever get a proper run of games with him fully fit. The squad needs his experience but his body just isn’t cooperating. Gutted for him and hoping for the best. But it’s hard not to feel worried about what comes next.
https://www.managingmadrid.com/99912/carvajal-surgery-2025-real-madrid He will be out for 2-3 months.
Yeah but Cafu is considered a pillar in europe winning Milan and world champion Brazil. Drummer and all
Mocking Trent from the bench, first to leave Valdebebas after the Fede/Tchou fight and had to be called to return, liked a video criticizing Florentino, rumored to have forced the hand of Arbeloa to send Jimenez back to Castilla Carvajal has been an absolutely terrible captain. Had much higher expectations for his leadership being part of the old guard and the legacy of Spanish captains. Amidst the chaos of the locker room, the captain seems either completely absent or even worse Hurt some of his legacy for me this year
It was a class move from the club to renew him right after ACL injury. They obviously didn't expect him to return to his former self as a player, but Carva as a leader left a lot to be desired this season.
Unfortunately I have to agree, and I always loved his attitude and how he was giving everything for the club. I guess we have a group of players that are really really bad losers and when things don't go well, we see what happens.
I think there are just players who are better without the responsibility of being a leader. Fede and Vini are other examples for me. And you see why the dressing room is the way it is.
It's official. Dani Carvajal will say goodbye to Real Madrid at the end of the current season. The guy leaves Madrid a legend. 6 champions leagues, 27 total trophies. For a large stretch he was the best Rightback in the world. Eternally grateful for this guy. Not particularly a good captain. But as a player he was incredible. Many Real Madrid seasons fell apart because they didn't keep a proper backup to Carvajal. So there is some mixed feelings there. https://www.realmadrid.com/en-US/news/club/announcements/comunicado-oficial-carvajal-18-05-2026
Absolute legend of a player. We were blessed to have him, as he was an amazing footballer and a home made product of castilla. 27 trophies is mental. He's been a part of the golden generation, and one of the best to ever do it with RM and Spain. Wherever he goes next I just hope he gets paid a lot and enjoys the soft-retirement.
I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt given how a lot of people said he had zero support in the team left right at the start of the season. Doesn't matter what kind of captain you are if you are in the minority in every single aspect.
All a bit harsh on Dani, IMO. It was a big, BIG ask of him to not only try to make a comeback from that terrible injury at 34 years old and the club was of course gracious to give him the extension, however expecting him to Captain the team was I think asking too much. Sure he was Captain as a formality but not really in practive, players just didn't see a reliable teammate anymore. That has nothing to do with his attitude or anything but if he's was on the field he was liablilty - and that surely weakens whatever authority he would have as Captain. So you have the stress of one injury derailing a career that had pinnacled at you being considered for a Balon D' Or and Captaining your boyhood club, that's a lot of stress for a player to deal with then throw in the mess made by Florention Perez and Kylian Mbappe and I think it unfair to be dragging Dani Carvajal when it's very much him that's getting dragged.
He is a club legend. Wish him well and another year of Trent’s defense will only heighten the appreciation for him from his prime days.
Good luck to Dani wherever he goes, quality player on and off the ball, as noted already, a club legend
Great player for us in his prime. Shit captain that didn’t portray values to his team mates when needed. Not much else to say.
