Trent is a glass cannon of sorts.

Amazing damage output, can't take any.

 

I think it'll all come down to finding the right role for Trent while Dani is still around. He can play multiple positions as well so Xabi will surely mix it up.

To be completely honest, I was convinced Dani would never be even close to a footballer he was. So I am ********ing delighted to see him doing so well after coming back from a destroyed knee.

There are no right backs that offer so much as gluten free Dani Carvajal. I know it's still early, but seeing him against Osasuna made be very optimistic about his late stage career.

 

Happy for Dani. But the season is long. If the club sees Trent as the longterm RB, they must make sure his deputy in the future is solid defensively. That would almost guarantee that sub with plenty of minutes.

 

Trent is just a kid. He will find his feet.

 

Was so happy to see him on the pitch.

 

I said this awhile ago but it’s going to take TAA a bit longer to settle in. He’s been a Liverpool kid for his entire life. That doesn’t shed easily.

I think he’s going to be spotty here and there but will be hitting his stride by the business end of the season.

Great signs for Dani, but I want to see him play against a real winger or team where we don’t hold the ball for 78%.

Carvajal got beat twice against Juve wasn’t it, Mandzukic at the back post? That game when Buffon went crazy over the Benatia foul on Lucas for the pen.

I think the most ridiculous one was Marcelo beaten by a header from Jesus Navas at the far post. Jesus Navas. 5' 7 Jesus Navas. Header. Jesus Navas.

I’m not sure that’s about positioning. He starts off in a great position to clear that. IMO that’s about lack of aggression in defending. Marcelo waits for the ball to land on his head, Navas goes and attacks it.

I’m also not sure if Marcelo realises the player is there. He is on his blindside so he can’t track both ball and man. Another reason you can’t just wait for the ball to land perfectly on your head.

As a defender, in the box, if the ball is in your zone, you have to aggressively attack it instead of trying to “defend” it or defend the man.

 

While I agree 100% with everything you say having watched the video again and after all these with the benefit of hindsight I'm realizing Marcelo ends up face first into the ground on the play.

I think we've all misjudged the play all along.

This might be a case of the grounds crew over watering the pitch at halftime to make it slippery for the Madrid defendense and through no fault of his own Marcelo lolses his balance on a play he was otherwise destined to be the hero of.

Arancha reports Dani will be out 2-3 months with this new injury. Looks like we won't see him again until 2026.

Unfortunately, his body isn't allowing for us to rely on him anymore.

Big opportunity for Trent upcoming, also may continue to see Fede play more RB.

 

Dani is closer to retirement than coming back. I’m amazed he was able to return how gruesome that right knee injury was. Will always deserve the highest level of respect and commitment to the club. Hope he is able to go out on two feet at the end of the season.

 

Carvajal is done at the highest level, I'm sure he knows it too. He wants one last run with Spain at the WC.

I think Fede is best at RB, Trent will be back for the Liverpool game.
